MôMô by Sensi Azores — Restaurant in Ponta Delgada

As we have our holiday home near the Sensi Azores hotel, we often come to eat at your restaurant. I would particularly like to congratulate the bar staff for their politeness, attentiveness and quality of service. In the restaurant, the young waitress from Slovenia is simply perfect. Well done! As usual, we had a wonderful meal! However, we regret that we have never, until now, seen a member of the management team, especially the restaurant manager. Throughout Europe, in restaurants that aspire to be among the best, it is very common for the manager to make a brief visit to the dining room at the end of service to greet their customers. At least that's what my father, who ran one of the best hotel schools in Switzerland, always told me. Here... we never saw anyone from the kitchen. What a shame! It's not enough to have some of the highest prices on the island to be among the best! Charles...

The good and the bad: Great friendly and professional staff. They know all the details of the menu and can guide you if there are any questions. You really feel you have all their attention. Dining room has a severe layout problem. Also there is a circular table that due to the size the guests end up far away, as a consequence they have to speak loud... Then everyone has to speak loud. The room ends up noisy with difficulty in having a conversation and destroys the cosy intimate inviting felling that the decor suggests. Ingredients are hit and miss, some dishes are very good due to the quality of the meat (pork cheeks) and others have sub par ingredients (Vazia steak, fish hotdog). Sauces are perfect but cannot maintain the quality of the dish if the rest is sub par.

Giving 4 stars not for what it is now but for...

My fiance and I went there to eat on a wednesday evening without any reservation, but it was no problem and we were sat to a nice table next to a window - before that, we took a drink at the bar which was amazing: the barkeeper does the best job and the cocktails were simply astonishing!! Also the view is crazy! The food was even better, we took two startes (BBQ mushrooms and fish cerviche) and two main dishes (fish of the day and chefs choice) to share and ended up ordering another chefs choice because we couldnt get enough (+dessert of course) - it really was simply one of the best meals we had on our acores trip! Something that stood out was the eloquent and super friendly service, we experienced such a good service very rarely in our lifes - big thanks to the staff of MôMô!
