Restaurante Sr. Do Socorro — Restaurant in Ponte de Lima

This is a lovely restaurant above the church of Socorro just 15 minutes above Ponte de Lima. Wonderful food, huge servings, reasonable prices, fantastic wines (Tiago cabaco Alicante boushet for 22 euro! Bacalau for two for Euro 27) and excellent multilingual friendly service as well. We have been in the Minho area for 16 days and this is the only place we returned to three times! They even have house made aguardiente! Why spend an evening among other tourists down in Ponte de Lima when you could come here? This is local food but made with soul and excellence! We stopped here for a snack and a glass of wine having completed a stage in the Caminho Português, and taking a short detour to see the church here. We were greeted by a lovely young woman named Carolina, who spoke to us in flawless English, got us drinks, sandwiches and even rang a taxi for us.
