Café da Marina — Restaurant in Porto Santo

The sunset at the easternmost point of the southern coastline of this golden island is in itself a precious spectacle every time. But if you would like to enjoy an extra civilized and romantic moment over a wine bottle or coffee cup, make your own provisions and bring glasses, a thermo with with you. I always like to go round the harbour and choose the lighthouse tower. There's a balcony from where one may enjoy a perfect view of the main island, and also the Cal Island. Please, don't forget to also bring your wind-cutter or jacket, and your sun glasses. Don't ever take your chance to the aforementioned bar /café, as their services could not be more discourteous and impolite, not to mention the disgraceful quality of the espresso they serve. On fact they have no table service even if the employee has no other service to attend to. The architecture of the place is uninteresting and toilets poorly maintained. They won't allow you to freely choose any spot of your choice inside, should it be windy or cold outside , as the tables in the lounge are are marked for either drinking or having meals. I have never been so disappointed in the entire archipelago of Madeira. And I wonder who would be in despair to spend any penny at this shabby business with so many excellent options abounding in the main Vila...

I have had most of the most pleasant experiences at this cafe, we enjoy the hostess so much, that we have decided after the past experiences, we will be going to cafe da marina, which will be my friend and I, choice for our start of the day everyday now. We are welcomed and served by a lovely girl fluent in English, I hope I have her name right Ligia Abreu, (forgive me if it's not written correctly) This young lady is amazing, she juggles serving with a smile, taking orders, cleaning tables, all with a warm smile. What a lovely young lady you have working for you. She is special. She makes us want to go back again and again. The Lady owner is also sometimes there and she is just as lovely.
