Happened to stop here purely by chance. What an amazing and traditional Portuguese place.
It's a family run business that has been around since 1974. Run by Luis and his siblings. It serves traditional home cooked Portuguese food. And it was all really good.
They only really do two dishes of the day: fish or meat. Being vegetarian we were worried all we could have would be salad. But Luis said he didn't want us to be hungry so brought potatoes, rice and beans, and a salad. We had the vegetable soup. And finished with a fruit salad.
Everything was very good. The portion sizes were so large we couldn't finish (no idea how people could eat the meat or fish as well!).
The entire bill came to €16. Yes, sixteen euros!

Este relato é referido num jornal da época, que tinha saliente o seguinte: Logo de manhã às doceiras estendiam sobre as toalhas, toda a franjada de rendas, vários doces muito cobertos de açúcar que despertavam a goludice dos romeiros. Cavaca é um doce de origem Portuguesa. Este doce nasceu nos velhos Conventos de Portugal. A sua receita contem ovos, açúcar, farinha, óleo de girassol e baunilha. Um dos exemplares mais conhecidos são as Cavacas de Resende, oriundas do Concelho de Resende. Na idade média uma Senhora que viva em Vinhós preparava a boda do casamento da filha e confeccionou o bolo de noiva, entretanto o casamento deve ter sido adiado devido a uma peste que estava a assolar o Concelho e, dadas as parcas possibilidades económicas, a Senhora viu-se obrigada a conservar o bolo até à data do casamento, pelo que retirou a parte de cima daquele e molhou a parte restante com uma calda de açúcar que lhe restituiu a frescura e fez a delícia de todos...
