O Cordeirinho — Restaurant in Ribeira Grande

Reviewing the mixed grill: Very good quality meats, potatoes and rice, but salad serving is lackluster. Prices are a bit steep relatively speaking here in the island, so I’m not sure that I’m getting full value for my money. The menu nowadays is very limited… there are no alternative diet options, so beware vegetarians and vegans, this is not the place for you! There are also almost no options that do not include French fries as side. The indoor ambiance bores me a bit but the outdoors are cool. It is a rather peaceful place outside, but it can get noisy at lunch time inside. The very limited menu and the relatively high prices are why I feel myself limited to awarding only 3 stars at this time - although, for the right kind of person, it’s not a bad restaurant. I would not recommend it for everyone, but it’ll probably do the trick if you’re passing by and need something to eat. Expect €15-20 per person if you’re including entrée and drinks. My friend and I both got sick with scombroid poisoning (histamin intoxication) after eating a tuna steak here. Within minutes of eating we experienced flushing, a red rash spread from the face all over the body, feeling very hot and a splitting headache, later we both got tummy sick. Luckily for us we didn't get the worse symptoms you can get with this. We managed with antihistamines and didn't have to go to hospital, but this is no joke as some people can become very sick with this and require hospitalization. My absolute FAVORITE place!! The staff was incredible, the setting was pristine and clean. I can’t even tell you how many times the waitresses were cleaning and scrubbing the dining room. Staff was incredible, very friendly. The food was very well priced and made well. I got THEE biggest omelet for only 6 euros!
