O MOINHO TERRACE CAFE — Restaurant in Ribeira Grande

Beautiful spot. The lethargy behind the counter led us to pivot to just getting a few ready-to-eat snacks, so as to not have to wait what seemed like it’d be an hour to get a simple bite. Then rallying up the amount to pay took five whole minutes 😅 Nice folks here, but I’d avoid if you’re on any kind of schedule.

Spinach/cheese pastry and pastel de nata were great. Banana bread was meh.

EDIT Forgot to mention the absurd musical mix. His places started with a new age sitar version of oh bless you merry gentlemen, a Christmas song at the end of August, then some Pink Floyd, then When A Man Loves A Woman, and now a recorded version of “it’s raining it’s pouring the old man is snoring....

For me, it is the best part of the beach. It has a good environment. The bar is over see, which brings you an amazing experience while you are enjoying your drink/s. Sometime there are animals around the tables. You will not have chance to book any table; once you arrive there, you must be agile to find any free tables to sit. The staff does not attend the tables, you must go inside the bar to order what you want. It closes at 7 pm. I would say it is a little bit expensive, but...

This quaint cafe fronted by a lush lawn with outdoor benches has a prime view of the beach and dramatic winter wave sets. Inside is warm and cozy - wooden beam ceilings and local stone walls frame the big picture windows. Antonio provided us with table side service and had perfect English.
