Unfortunately I have to agree with many of the reviews over the last several years. The vineyard is beautiful the restaurant is inconsistent at best. The staff is great when they are empty but once a second seating comes it is complicated. We stayed for four days and had to choose to eat elsewhere after day 2. Our first dinner was very pleasant, but subsequent lunch and dinner not so much.
The food one day is cooked to perfection the next it is dry and overcooked. The picture attached is of a 52 Euro steak cooked medium. You have to try your luck. The menu is limited for both lunch an dinner so don’t plan to eat there more than two nights max if you are staying at the hotel.
They make a big deal about timings for seatings, but then you are still left waiting for the food for too long, so might need more tuning.
The overall rating is generous considering the fact that in Portugal for the prices charged at this restaurant we can eat much bette and 15 min drive away there are some...
Read moreWe discovered this delightful restaurant upon our first day at the. Ventozelo Quinta and ended up having 6 of our meals here.
To start, the service is beyond exceptional. The ever-changing menu provided a nice change of pace across each meal.
We tried everything from the octopus salad to the game pie to the delightful vegetable pasta (my personal favorite). They utilize their garden to help prepare each dish and you can taste it!
Marcos the sommelier was very helpful with wine pairings and Joao was so wonderful as well.
We ended up suggesting this restaurant to several people we met at a local wine tasting and they ended up making the journey to try it. Highly suggest making the journey if you are on the...
Read moreThe ingredients are top-notch, but the chefs must not be tasting the food before sending it. We stayed on the premises and have dined here twice. Both times, the cook on the proteins have been wrong and the food was not seasoned properly We order polenta and had to put about 1-2 tsp of salt to make it not bland. It's a shame because they have beautiful ingredients and a very nice service staff, along with a nice ambiance. Please, if you are from Ventozelo - please encourage the chefs to pay more attention to the doneness of the meat and to make sure they are always tasting and seasoning properly. Guests notice this, but may be too polite to mention it.
Breakfast here is great and we prefer it to the...
