Sāo Cristóvāo A Huge WOW!! He whoever find himself in the north shore of Madeira, must do all efforts to enjoy this wonderful restaurant. It is located in Boaventura, few kms. east of Sao Vicente (and just 34 km from Porto Moniz). It is situated in unique scenery by the shore. It is a place to have the most genuine food. I have visited few restaurants in the area (among which are The Seaview restaurant in Aqua Natura, Porto Moniz - do not try; the Orca, next to the Aqua Natura Hotel, Porto Moniz – go there!; Quinta Do Furao in Santana – expensive; not the best choice when speaking in terms of value for money). In comparison to these latter restaurants, the São Cristóvão puts them in its shade, both in quality and in prices: the best value for money in all terms. Nice portions of delicious local dishes; excellent service; stunning location. We had there 2 fishes of the day (Dourada in our case; 18 euro each) and a pot of a superb "Caldeirada a Fragateira" (25 euro), which is a stew (for 2!) containing a variety of ocean "products", like: mussels, limpets, prawns, octopus, fish (including Tuna, Dourada , Black Scabbard), cooked in a tasty sauce, with potatoes. The bottle of house wine (8 euro) added to the fest, as did the deserts (cheese cake with berries – 4 euro). Worth every cent! There is a large deck outside, so one can enjoy his meal there, having special sights of the cliffs meeting the ocean, and when sunset is around – the scenery will be memorable. The photos speak...

We got the grilled seafood platter which was very good! Dessert was a bit disappointing with a very hard, over-cooked flan (aka crème caramel). Passionate fruit cheesecake was pretty good.
Our only complaint was the customer service. The lady serving us (one in pink curly hair) was stand-offish and dismissive from the moment we entered the restaurant. At one point, she was tossing plates across our table and never once checked on us to see if we had everything we needed. We observed her behaviour with other tables and she was happily serving them, even smiling and making conversation so we were genuinely confused why she was rude towards us and refused us a basic level of customer service. We ended up referring our questions and requests to another waiting staff who was extremely polite...
Read moreWe were served by Maria, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful. We couldn’t decide what to choose because everything on the menu looked so good, but Maria helped us make the perfect choice. She recommended the grilled parrot fish, as it was the freshest that day, and since we mentioned we love shrimps, she also suggested a delicious sautéed shrimp dish – all this with bread, salad, special rice, and boiled potatoes. Everything was absolutely delicious!
This meal definitely set the bar high for the rest of our stay. At the end, we also had a passion fruit fluffy cheesecake, which was the perfect finish.
The view from the restaurant is stunning, and we even managed to fit in a short hike nearby. There was plenty of parking, and the restrooms were clean and well-equipped.
Thank you for the...
