Restaurante Jale — Restaurant in Santa Cruz da Graciosa

Since our arrival on Graciosa, we have made a habit of eating at Jale. It is worth the trip just for their garlic bread which is literally the best we have ever had. (A person at a nearby table exclaimed she was in extasy!) Jale is the only place we have found on the island that offers fresh grilled fish—all of which are on display. You can take your pick!

When we told them my wife has a special medical diet, they went out of their way to ensure her meal not only met her restrictions but was delicious.

We have lived in Portugal for over five year. Who would expect we would find one of the best restaurants on the island of Graciosa?

came here after season and throughout my short stay felt like i was the only tourist on the island. but i don't think this was the reason why owners of this real gem treated me in any special way. i suspect they are always like that: super friendly, helpful and they really know their job. ate here twice and both fish were delicious, probably best i've eaten in a long long time. the place may seem humble but well, it's not about decors, it's about food. and you can choose your fresh fish from a fridge on the door. highly recommended! tbh, though, i haven't checked any other restaurants in graciosa, after the first dinner here it would be...

Beware of this place. If you are not local will be served 4hrs later.

I was there on Aug 18,for dinner. It took 1hr to take the order and another 3.5hr for my fish to come (very good as it was grilled). When i grill fish it takes max 15min to make but to this bar it took 3.5hr.

I saw many guests coming after me, being served before me.

After 3 hrs when the owner realized that we were friends with locals said why didn't you tell me. As i said to her, this is not a way to do business.

This is the worst experience i ever had in a service establishment .
