The ladies, especially the taller one with the wire-framed glasses are kind and take obvious pride in their dishes. This is a very tradition home-like (it's at the end of a dead end street surrounded by farmland) that is comfortable and spacious. Just like Grandma's dining room. There is no written menu and the daily items are shared in rapid-fire Portuguese. While we understand and speak some Portuguese at this point in our life here, we had to wing it at this place. We were a bit too adventures and ended up with the fried river eel, the specialty of the house. We did try them and determined they are not our thing. The kind lady taking care of us was so upset we didn't like them and insisted on bringng us eggs (we declined the meat offered as we couldn't determine what the meat might be at this point LOL). We told her was okay, it was pur fault we didn't fully understand what we were ordering and when trying new things it doesn't always go well. Note the salad, fries, bread and black olives were fantastic. Tomato on the salad tasted like it had just been picked. Once our Portuguese improves definitely will go back and try this again.
