Today we have arrived to the restaurant, at first nobody noticed us for like 5 minutes (only two tables ocuppied), after that we needed to go to the bar. It wouldnt be any issue, if anything else is OK. We have ordered tuna steak and beef steak, both was completely not spiced (salt, pepper etc.), side dishes the same. Beef steak was not actually classic steak, but something like schinztel (and actually tasted more like pork) and it have had a lot of tendons and very hard to chew, we have changed this meal to grilled salmon which was completely rare inside (please be also aware that it is not suitable for example for pregnant grils), lady told us that the are preparing like this. It is ok for us, we do not like such salmon, but to avoid this missunderstanding it would be great to have more description in the menu, with photos etc.. As last point we needed to pay salmon anyway, maybe one point the manager, if you have served like 300 menus with no disappintment (which have Been told to us), why to bill menu to one customer if he was not satisfied? You are making like this bad references to yourself.

Wishing a lot of...

This is a well-established restaurant with large dining spaces ideal for a small or large group of diners. You can pop in for a drink and cake or eat larger meals, the staff are very attentive and friendly.

The surrounding landscape is stunning with mountain views in every direction and on a clear day is beautiful, the restaurant has a garden around it and has plenty of parking either on the main road or inside the gates.

Overall Casa De Chá is a very traditional looking space with a decently stocked bar and a big open fireplace...

Following the comments on this page, we went (at night) but were quite disappointed. Maybe food is good at lunch time, but at night time it is very bad. We arrived at 19h45 and were alone in this huge restaurant, and i guess the cook wasn't there as well. We got served some reheat fish, very dry and tasteless.. If you can't open at night then you should stay closed. In the end, it was our most expensive restaurant in Madeira and really not worth it. Only good point: the waitress was nice...

Tourist trap. Came here and there were three massive tour buses loading. That should have been a sign, but we were hungry and just wanted some soup. How bad could it be? Service was very slow. More than 45 mins for soup! Food was terrible. Had to add salt and pepper from the table because everything came out unseasoned. One of us in the group ended up with food poisoning from this place!Cute outdoor setting with a nice view, but would not recommend for food. AVOID!
