Guarda-Rios — Restaurant in Seia

What a big surprise! It’s a relaxed, beautifully decorated, well located and very traditional and delicious food restaurant. It’s not just another “by the side of the road” restaurant where you eat tasty nearly for free. It’s away more then that. It has class, it’s pleasant to the eye and body, super clean, comfortable, cozy and the wine selection can make jealous some highly known restaurants! The waterfall beside, alone, could be an attraction. After you deviate a bit from the main road to access the restaurant, you’ll find a generous parking, considering the capacity of Guarda-Rios. Dona Alice’s service, sympathy, as well the rest of the staff it’s by itself another attraction! We had Cabrito Assado, asked for all types of drinks, dessert and repeat… this people know how to cook, how to be of service and above all they make you feel welcome and at home! There’s no money that can pay that… We’re staying 2 nights in the area so tomorrow I’ll go for the bacalhau com Broa! I highly recommend the place! Beautiful restaurant offering great food, beautiful view, and super friendly and traditional Portuguese staff 🙂 We came here for breakfast and it was super delicious. The man working (Mr. Acácio Nunes) was super friendly and accommodating, recommending us a full breakfast with eggs, fresh coffee, orange juice, amazing bread with marmalade, seated in front of a window viewing the beautiful landscape of Poço da Broca da Barriosa. It was an amazing experience, my gf and I felt totally warm, cozy, and welcome. This was my second time coming here and was equally nice and cozy. Myself and three friends came into this restaurant and as we have sat down and ordered (two soups and one whole meal) plus drinks, shortly after the owner approached us and let us know that in order for us to be able to stay we would have to order more, what we ordered wasn’t enough and that he has turned people away in order to give us a table.

Then he proceeded to say that if we ate quickly and left then we could stay. We found it at very poor taste that because one of us did not order a meal he did not want us to stay.
