Terrible service from the owner. They charged 10 euros for a portion of baked potato which is 1.50 euros on the menu. My husband is American and doesn't speak Portuguese correctly. When we asked the owner why the price was so high, she said that it was a vegetarian dish: 3 potatoes and a tiny portion of terrible-looking vegetables cooked in water that wasn't even requested. She mentioned that the amount charged also involved the use of the restaurant's plates and forks, and that it was also part of the cost of washing all the dishes, as if it were common for a customer to pay to wash the dishes that the restaurant itself serves. Absurd! I went back and asked for the complaints book and at first she was very furious with the situation and gave me the compliments book and not the complaints book. I asked for the right book and heard more insults. I asked for a pen and she refused to give it, saying she didn't have any. After threatening to call the police for refusing, she gave me a pen and I wrote my story in the book. We feel robbed!! And we were treated very badly when we asked why she charged 10 euros for a portion of boiled potatoes with the excuse of it being a vegetarian dish....
Read moreWe dont have much bad experience in dining in Portugal, but this one really gave us an unpleasant one. They gave us an English menu during ordering, but when we paid the bill, it was €15 higher than the English and then they showed us a Portuguese menu. They explained that the ingredients prices increased a lot and they dont have time to update the English menu (but they have time to update the Portuguese ones🙄). Then even said unlike in USA, it is paid accordingly to the menu but in Portugal, it is paid with what was eaten on the table (I dont think the guy knew what he was talking !!!!). This restaurant not just damage its own reputation, but also to the entire Portuguese restaurant sector becoz from now on , all foreigners need to pay 200pct attention on menus at all restaurants to make sure there are not tricks inside in order to deal with this kind of (any) dishonest and cheating...
