In a first floor of a petrol tank café in Sobral de Monte Agraço (50km north of Lisbon), this restaurant specialises in matured meat on the stone at the table with the consequential general smoke and smells.

For us it was one of those days… we had asked Bruno by phone to get us a quiet table as we brought a 90+ years family member for out traditional Sunday lunch and got the table at the wine’s where they would constantly bring clients to push our chairs for their choice discussions.

On the first page of their extensive wine list they proudly mentioned to be ambassador for the Quinta de Ervideira “vinho de água”, but it was sold out, so we took the reserva from the same Quinta, but had to send it back with cork.

Presenting their menu they apologised that after the holidays they only had 20% of their normal meet offers, so I ordered their specialty pork, but 5min later they had to inform me that not only was it sold out but they had none of their pork offers at all.

After the couvert and starters, we had a vitela estufada, bife a ferrador and the bacalhau com natas with an alentejano red wine, a baba de camelo and a delicious leite creme for dessert, with waters and coffee for a very...

I love this place for the quality of the food, from the codfish with mashed potatoes to the aged meat cooked on a hot rock. What I didn't care for on my last visit is that we waited about an hour for our meal when there was barely anyone there. I have been to this establishment when it was filled to the rim and have had faster service. They acknowledged the fact and offered cinnamon sweet bread as a dessert. Because we were the last couple, we felt a bit rushed when they were to close at midnight. Aside from poor service, the food is amazing and that's why I will...

It was the best meat I have ever eaten recently. The tenderness, the taste , uau!! The wine that we choose this time. I dont remember the name, but it was an Alentejano Red Wine. I prefer Alentejo ones. The fried home made potatoes and also the freshness of the exotic fruits that joined so well the meat. The staff is amazing and very sympathy. Always available and perfectly fit for the environment. For sure, a place to go often.
