Mercado Saloio — Restaurant in Torres Vedras

Mercado Saloio was fantastic, it was the last minute suggestion suggestion for my sister, was pleasantly surprised.

Food: Menu was extensive with a lot of different options, including tapas steaks, pizzas, salads, etc. Great selection! Food was executed well, the pizza was of high-quality. The steak was well prepared, medium as we requested, and every other dish was delicious. Besides, not having the bottle of wine that we wanted, we ended up having a different one which was fantastic .

Service: Was impeccable, very friendly they suggested different items. Food was on time.

Atmosphere: It is in general a busy place and can be a little bit loud which we didn’t mind. At the end, they actually had a Musician play which was a pleasant surprise and I created a great atmosphere .

We went for lunch on Easter Sunday and were lucky to have a reservation. The service was friendly and fast as usual. My wife had a fish filet, which was excellent. I had the pork ribs, which were nice as well. They could provide a little more coleslaw. A friend had a burger, which wasn't cooked to his liking. The atmosphere and ambiance are exceptionally good for Portugal outside the tourist hubs. The life music was good, but it isn't easy to have a conversation. Better be aware of that. The food was acceptable, nothing exceptional. The manager/owner needs to take some lessons in customer service. The entire restaurant was staring at her yelling at a customer. Unacceptable.

Edit: The restaurant replied to my original comment denying that my experience ever happened. I stand by my statement and there’s no denying that it’s true because there are plenty of other negative comments about the manager. I always try my best to be understanding but the manager was so rude and was even aggressive. Worst dining experience...
