Worst service ever. We waited patiently for 2 hours while having a drink for the restaurant to open. They filled up six tables before we finally got one: the worst in the whole restaurant. It took more than half an hour to get our order in. The waitress was friendly, but that can not be said of the other staff. Other tables already finished a 3 course meal and left before we even saw some food appear. The potatoes were cold and the french fries very dry. Other food was mediocre.

Just avoid this place. Worst restaurant we've had in the 2 weeks we've been...

The journey here by car will make you thankful for life. Driving to a fajã is not for the faint hearted. We came for the famous Fajã da Caldeira clams and they ARE tasty. Be ready for sticker shock. It's 1.5 € per clam (we counted) so think of it as a culinary once-in-a-lifetime rather than a charge on your visa bill.

All in all, menu prices are about 20% higher than comparable offerings on the island, hence the middling rating. Instead, ask a friendly local for something near you and spend the savings on a bottle of Pico wine or a São Jorge...

We had ribs and barracuda, both very tasty! Ribs were crispy, barracuda rich and well fried, potatoes were also very good!
