Pizzeria d'Aldeia — Restaurant in Vila do Bispo

Super friendly owner and staff. Having lived in Italy and tried all sorts of pizza - from local favorite pizzerie to the Nonna next door - we were excited to try this newest pizzeria in Budens. There are many choices for pizza, something for everyone. I have to admit that I was shocked to see Hawaiian pizza on the menu though. The pizza tasted okay, but a little like they forgot to put salt in the dough and also seemed that their oven needs to be hotter because the crust wasn't quite like you get from a nice hot brick oven for example. We re-heated some slices in a hot frying pan and added a pinch of salt and they were much better and more like real Italian pizza. I can not understand why this place is so crowded. The pizzas are absolutely average if not below average. They have the size of a frozen pizza from the super market but can cost up to 16€!!! That’s more than any pizza I’ve had in Germany. I mean self made pizza from an Ooni oven tastes better and unique than this. The ambience and concept is also weird as there are plenty of waiters for these few tables and you get served drinks and starters and what not but when it comes to you mains, you have to pick them up when the buzzer goes off… The noise in the restaurant is also unbearable when it’s full and no air flow or air conditioning. There is one word to describe the quality of this pizzaria and it will surprise you just as much as it surprised me. It is superb... Firstly, the location of this restaurant is incredibly practical. It is easily accessible to anyone, whether it is someone looking to sightsee, hungry after a long drive or wanting something after the beach. The atmosphere is also very welcoming and casual, supported by the excellent decor and fitting for a pizzaria in Portugal.
