This amazing hidden gem of the Douro is tucked away in a hill with breathtaking views of the stone bridge and river. Run by a young family, this place serves extremely fresh (most ingredients are grown or caught in the area) and home made Portuguese food. The fried fish and the bacalhau gratin are amazing, but you cannot miss the desserts (sobremesa). The young owners lived in France mostly (one of them is actually french) and it clearly shows in the quality dessert swlection: the fondant and creme brulee are delicious, probably the best we've ever had (and my wife is a true creme brulee fanatic). We kayaked from the opposite side of the river, tied up at their dock, and walked up the hill to the restaurant. We were staying at Negreiros Wine and Mario provided the kayak.
