Monte Mar Restaurante São Tomé — Restaurant in Guadalupe

We enjoyed our lunch here. The set menu was tasty and inexpensive and it was really cool to see and then be able to smell and touch the ingredients that went into our dishes. The Sao Tomean food scene is nascent, the set menu style that is available at many of the "top" restaurants is a good option but some of the dishes were quite similar from restaurant to restaurant, for example we ended up eating the same fish and rice in a dish at almost each of the set menu restaurants we visited. What a lovely place! We stopped by as a last minute decision for dinner after visiting Praia dos Tamarindos. We were the only ones there. Hoping for something other than seafood, we ordered the chicken and wow, it hit the spot! Well marinated, served with rice and a warm cabbage salad. We were also served a variety of plantains and cassava, and complimentary fruit at the end, all for 850 Dobras ( 2 beers and 2 chicken plates). Siamo appena rientrati da una vacanza di dieci giorni a Sao Tomè. Abbiamo trascorso 4 interi giorni a Monte Mar, ospitati in una bellissima location tipica tutta in legno su palafitta, arredata in modo delizioso, pulitissima e con tutti i confort necessari. La camera matrimoniale, con bagno privato e stanzina separata per un terzo letto, aveva anche un patio ad uso privato grandissimo con vista mozzafiato sul mare. Il proprietario giovane, simpatico, gentilissimo e molto professionale. Tutto il personale molto disponibile e gentile, la cuoca Solange bravissima e tutto lo staff di camerieri simpatici e mai invadenti. Colazione ottima e abbondante (uova, pane condito della casa, burro e marmellata, latte, caffè, the, succhi naturali e frutta fresca di tutti i tipi e abbondante!!!) servita sulla terrazza con vista mare ...veniva voglia di non alzarsi più da tavola! A 5 minuti poi la spiaggia Tamarindos assolutamente e comodamente balneabile, frequentata sia da turisti che famiglie locali (soprattutto nel week end) con un atmosfera allegra e amichevole, ottima per fare amicizia. La sera poi di rientro ci aspettava un'ottima cena fissa con antipasto, portata principale e frutta o dolci; ottima scelta anche di vini Portoghesi. Prodotti locali freschissimi, ottimamente cucinati ed abbinati! Abbiamo lasciato un pezzetto di cuore a Monte Mar ...sicuramente da consigliare ma soprattutto da ritornarci appena possibile!!
