This was our first time at The Great house restaurant. Perhaps, we had too high of an expectation for this establishment. On the plus side we were impressed with the ambiance and beautiful surroundings. The 4 of us dined early in the evening so the restaurant was practically empty and yet the service was extremely slow and inattentive. They weren’t short staffed. We asked for many items repeatedly and some of them never arrived. Every time that we asked, the staff apologized with a smile but the item was brought to us 10 minutes later(lemon for a fish entree, one of the drink orders arrived separately 30 minutes later after asking for it twice)or not arrive at all(extra dipping sauce for an appetizer, fresh ground pepper for salad) A manager was making her rounds around the restaurant and when she stopped by our table, we politely pointed out some of the things lacking; she wrote this down on a pad of paper however she didn’t return to follow up. Even telling this manager that we were still waiting on some items, it did not make them appear sooner. Food was not so special either. I have to say that we had higher quality service at low key places such as Shipwreck bar . Even though we believe in second chances, there were way too many things lacking to give us the desire...
Read moreWhat food we did receive was delicious, but all we received in just under three hours was a few appetizers and beverages. We asked the waitress why it was taking so long and she did her best, and is the reason I gave three stars for the service, but the manager had no answers. He said that our food had been started, and that he was going to double check in the kitchen. He did not return, until we got up to leave. We told him it was unacceptable and he agreed, we told him this shouldn’t have happened and he agreed, and we proceeded to walk out the door. During our one week vacation, this was going to be our special meal and we left hungry and disappointed. At the very least, they could’ve warned us at the beginning, or even the manager could’ve apologized at the end. That...
Read moreThis is one of the best restaurants on the island for sure. The location is amazing, and the building is really cool as it was built to represent the old great houses that were used on the sugar plantations historically on the island. We meet the chef Rahul, and he is incredible. Really friendly and went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our meals there. We are breakfast multiple times there and loved it. We had dinner once, and it was my favorite meal of the trip. The presentation of the food was nice, and each dish had great flavor and texture. To follow it up we ordered several of the desserts, each of which was delicious. My personal favorite was the salted caramel gelato. I highly recommend eating here at least once during your visit...
