Saudi hospitality at its best…
If you have never been invited by a Saudi to their house for a meal , try this … trust me it is very representative.
Make sure you book your table ahead of time. The name of the restaurant is a story in itself. Take the oppurtunity to ask about it when you get there.
You will be greated at the outside entrance by the restaurant Saudi staff. As you enter, a very pleasant Saudi young man treats you to a cup of Saudi coffee as a symbol of hospitality. The energetic young Saudi receptionist will then take care of leading you to your table. The dining experience selecting from a very generous menu of local authentic dishes kicks off. There will not be a single dish that won’t pleasantly surprise you. Home cooking like never before and an eruption of unique flavours surrounds you with the arrival of every dish to your table. As you prepare to leave , the young Saudi man insists that you take one last shot of Saudi hospitality by treating you to the aroma of Oud and a good bye cup of Saudi coffee.
Saudi hospitality experience for you… You will come back again and again , every time enjoying the experience as if it were your first visit. Thanks to the management of Dar Basma for this Iconic...

Dar Basma in Al Ahsa beautifully captures the essence of authentic Hasawi cuisine! From the moment you step inside, you’re embraced by a warm, rustic ambiance that feels like home. The decor, blending traditional elements with a cozy, local charm, creates the perfect setting to enjoy classic Hasawi flavors.
The food is exceptional, with every dish reflecting the rich culinary heritage of Al Ahsa. We enjoyed the Jareesh and Majboos, both cooked to perfection with flavors that felt both nostalgic and fresh. The use of spices and local ingredients really shines through, making each bite a celebration of Hasawi culture. The saloona was another standout, hearty and packed with flavor, reminding us of authentic homemade meals.
Service was excellent—the staff was friendly, attentive, and eager to share the story behind each dish, which added a personal touch to the experience.
Dar Basma is a true gem in Al Ahsa, a place to savor traditional Hasawi dishes in a welcoming environment that honors local heritage. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s a must-try for an authentic taste of Al Ahsa. Highly...
Read moreI had high hopes for a restaurant that aspires to be an iconic spot in Al Ahsa. The decor and atmosphere were impressive, but my experience quickly turned into a major disappointment due to the awful customer service, which I’m sure doesn’t reflect the true hospitality of the people of Al Ahsa. This was by far the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered. Mr. Saleh A. was rude and disrespectful in a way that’s unacceptable from anyone, let alone a customer service representative who is supposed to be welcoming and helpful. I won’t be returning to this restaurant, as I refuse to subject myself to such disrespect again. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone either, because no matter how great the ambiance or food, poor service can ruin the experience entirely. To the owner and hiring managers: I suggest you pay closer attention to the behavior and manners of the staff you hire, especially if you truly care about creating a positive experience for your customers that will make them want to return. I do hope there will be a change in the future, as this restaurant has potential. Overall, a...
