I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent experience at Paul Bakery was appalling enough to warrant one. The service was not just poor – it was blatantly disrespectful.
Despite setting patiently at my table, I was deliberately ignored by staff who were more interested in chatting than taking orders. What made it worse? It became clear the reason we were overlooked was because we were young.
Yes, it seems at Paul, they judge your worth as a customer based on your age – as if young people aren’t entitled to basic courtesy or competent service.
No greetings, no eye contact, no acknowledgment whatsoever – just cold stares and dismissive glances.
Other customers were attended to while we were left standing as if invisible. Newsflash: you never know who’s standing in front of you. That “young” customer could very well be related to a well-known food critic or someone who genuinely cares about highlighting poor hospitality practices.
Paul Bakery should take this as a wake-up call. Service is not a favor – it’s your job. Treat every guest with dignity, regardless of how they look, how old they are, or what you assume about them. Until this toxic attitude changes, I cannot recommend this place to anyone who values respect or basic...

Let's start with complimentary snacks, Brown bread was a joke, it's closer to plastic than actual bread. White bread fared better, but was very chewy.
We ordered fresh juice and soda. Ginger Chicken Cashew Bowl, Tofo hummus and a steak, which was a hundred and something 🤔 (actual answer given by waiter)
The steak was terrible, cold and over done, they assumed I prefered well done! I had to turn it back. The manager apologised and offered a complimentary salad as I waited for my order to be re-made. Note: Complimentary salad was made of one vegetable "lettuce" 😂
Tofo hummus was delicious, Chicken Cashew Bowl was below average, the remade steak was excellent 👌.
Finally, The decore was outdated, clearly the place has not been maintained properly, all tables we tried were wobbly (annoying). Some chairs were stained. And the sink in the men's bathroom was an after thought,...
Read moreMy recent visit to Paul Café at Al Hamra Mall was such a treat! The ambiance is calm and elegant—perfect for a relaxed afternoon. I tried a few new items from their menu, and everything was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. The dessert was rich, glossy, and beautifully plated. The chocolate dome had a crunchy base and smooth ganache top—not too sweet, just right. The pasta itself was the highlight—perfectly cooked with a lovely light lemony sauce that kept each bite fresh and flavorful. The salad was refreshing, colorful, and well-balanced—perfect for summer. Special thanks to Charly, the new waitress who made the experience warmer with her kind attitude and attentiveness. She was patient, helpful, and made sure everything...
