If you're a fan of rich, smoky flavors and tender meat, slow-cooked mutton over a wood fire paired with Arabic rice is a culinary experience to savor, though it can be a bit pricey.
The mutton, when slow-cooked over wood, absorbs a deep, smoky aroma that permeates every bite, making the meat succulent and flavorful. The slow cooking process allows the mutton to become incredibly tender, practically melting in your mouth. The wood fire adds a rustic and authentic dimension to the dish that you can't achieve with modern cooking methods.
Pairing this with Arabic rice enhances the experience. The rice, often seasoned with spices like cumin, cardamom, and cinnamon, balances the richness of the mutton with its fragrant, slightly nutty flavor. The grains are typically long and fluffy, perfectly absorbing the juices from the mutton, making each spoonful a burst of flavor.
However it is little bit expensive, The cost is driven by the quality of the mutton, the traditional cooking method, and the time it takes to prepare the dish properly. Despite the expense, the result is a meal that's both hearty and satisfying, offering a depth of flavor that’s hard to beat. It's an indulgence that's perfect for special occasions or when you're looking to treat yourself to something truly...

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Hataba and tried their bbq chicken with smoked yellow rice, along with rotisserie chicken served with smoked rice. Both dishes were flavorful and showcased the quality of these traditional dishes in Riyadh. The smoky aroma of the rice complemented the tender chicken beautifully, making for a satisfying meal.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was inviting, with a cozy setup that encourages relaxation and good conversation. However, I did notice that the staff could be more attentive. At times, it felt like they were a bit distant, which made it challenging to get timely service. A more engaging approach could greatly enhance the dining experience.
While the overall ambiance was pleasant, I believe the cleanliness could use some improvement. A tidier environment would contribute positively to the overall impression of the restaurant.
Hataba offers a good dining experience with delicious food and a nice atmosphere, but with a few minor adjustments, like improved service and cleanliness, it could easily reach its full potential. I'm looking forward to my next visit and seeing how they...
