Avoid This Restaurant – Rude Owners, Scam and Health Risks
We had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant in Praslin, and I strongly recommend avoiding it. While the staff member who served us was kind and attentive, the behavior of the owners (a foreign family) was shockingly rude and aggressive.
The issue began when we wanted to leave a tip directly for the server who had taken care of us, but the owner refused to allow it, insisting on controlling how tips are distributed in a very violent attitude against their staff. As customers, we have the right to give a tip to whomever we choose, but instead, the situation escalated unnecessarily. The owner’s wife (who works as the cashier) was extremely hostile when we requested a detailed bill to verify the parking refund, which they promised to deduct for dining there. It turned out they hadn’t honored this refund, making the whole thing a scam.
To make matters worse, after making a constructive complaint to the owner, he followed us to the beach to continue the argument, leaving us feeling harassed and extremely uncomfortable with their completely unprofessional behavior.
Adding to the frustration, I suffered from food poisoning after eating here, which disrupted my vacation.
There are many amazing local restaurants on the island run by people who are genuinely kind, respectful, and grateful for their customers. I encourage visitors to support local businesses instead—they deserve your time, money, and trust far more than places like this. Save yourself the trouble and stay away of Le Chevalier...
Read moreLucky enough to have come across this little gem when deciding to visit Anse Lazio on our 3rd trip to Praslin. We liked the idea of parking our hire car a little closer to where we were on the beach, secure parking for just 100 SCR, which you then receive a voucher that you can use in the restaurant that takes the parking cost off your restaurant bill. We were greeted by one of the owners when parking and met her again later when we ate lunch in the restaurant. Very friendly and welcoming and more than happy to talk about the island in general but also Anse Lazio specifically giving an insight to their family business, the locals, weather and way of life, all very useful but very interesting. We ate a delicious yet simple lunch because we like it that way! Tuna salad was prepared with attention to the ingredients and presentation, really yummy and very filling 😋 hubby had a tuna sandwich, being the simple but picky eater, he asked for the sandwich with no salad filling, this often gets lost in translation and you never know what to expect, in this case it was spot on. Again a lovely filling plate of food and at very reasonable prices, not expensive which you may expect from a restaurant on what is probably one of the most famous and beautiful spots on the island. We would recommend Le Chevalier to anyone visiting Praslin and Anse Lazio who wants somewhere nice to eat without having to worry about the price. Finally the added fact that the beach and snorkeling are fantastic too. Thank you,...
Read moreWe liked the restaurant when we saw it from the beach. Not exactly a beach-restaurant but it looked nice. So we went there to have lunch. 2 families. Big mistake because the aspect is the only nice thing about The Chevalier. We waited maybe 20 minutes till a waitress finally took our order. Because we had 2 small children we decided for burgers and sandwiches. 4 cocktails and a bottle of water. The water came after another 10-15‘ so a half of hour to say the children „wait a little bit, you can have something to drink soon“ 🙁. So we drank the water and then....nothing. For another 20-30 minutes. Finally after 50-55‘ we received SOME of the cocktails and SOME burgers. The sandwich of a child was forgotten and some of drinks came after we received the food so AFTER ONE HOUR. When I questioned the owner why we had to wait one hour for some burgers and sandwiches he only found to answer that after his opinion it was less than an hour 😐. Incredible! Now about the quality: for cocktails a clear 1. Pinacolada for example was like a rest of what remained in more glasses mixed together. The burgers and the sandwiches mediocre at best. Each of them around 300 Rupees (so around 20€!!!). With cocktails over 200€ for 4 adults and 2 children. We lost there around 2 hours as well NEVER EVER AGAIN. Just a damn...
