Been to this location on two separate occasions, they have indoor and outdoor pet friendly areas, as well as indoor and outdoor non pet friendly areas for customers without dogs.
Their live music acts are really good, and start at night- thought I’m not sure what the schedule normally is for them ! Ridhwan and Julian, and Karena and Daryl were both amazing acoustic duos and I enjoyed my nights thouroughly !
They have a $9.90 set meal to celebrate their opening, which you can choose having a salad or a dessert with a main and a soup. I picked the smoked salmon salad beef Don which was pretty substantial for the price, and the beef slices were not overcooked and done just right (medium rare) ! I was pleasantly surprised and impressed ☺️
smoked salmon salad is pretty standard, you get what you pay for ! (They give three slices of salmon)
Tried the fish and chips and was happy that it didn’t cost like 25-35 bucks for quality fish - they used black cod in their fish and chips so the fish is buttery, soft and smooth when you bite into it !
Their beef stroganoff pasta (if I remember the name correctly) was alright, I would recommend you order the fish and chips over this because they’re about the same price
Their yuzu lemonade is pretty normal, nothing much to rave about but presentation is pretty.
Signing up as a member is free when you scan their menu to order, and some dishes are discounted if you are a member!
The atmosphere is pretty chill, and if you bring your dog there are hooks beside the table to kiap the leash on, however I do caution it’s like one hook per table, so wouldn’t be wise or practical to be bringing too many dogs - I would recommend two small dogs or one medium / large dog on one visit so you can still enjoy your time there.
Staff Suzy and Daniel were excellent in checking on us even though they were super busy and made sure we and our fur babies were comfortable.
You can request for drink / food bowls from the staff, and thank you Suzy for giving our fur babies a puppycino ☺️
Water is also free, they provide a tall glass of it at each table !
Rating it 4 stars just because of the long wait outside the restaurant which we had to wait for almost an hour without a reservation, but when we went on a weekday the crowd was significantly lesser and we could get a table almost immediately.
Thank you for an...
Read moreBeen here about three times already, and I really love the miso cod risotto. Food is always good and reasonably priced!
I haven't written a review until this time because the service today was really disappointing. Brought my dad and dogs to celebrate Father's Day, only to be met with condescending staff.
If the staff hadn't repeated the phrase, "I/We will close one eye this time." over and over, I wouldn't have felt so wronged. He used this phrase to point out every mistake that we did that we weren't aware or notified of.
There were no signs which mentioned that dogs now had to be leashed on the second floor, when it used to be a space where the dogs could free roam when I had came previously. How could they assume that we were up to date with every one of their changes in house rules?
He emphasized the phrase to talk about how we hadn't cleaned up a spot where our dog had peed. Thanks for letting us know we have to clean up after our pets - we did before you made it clear and would have if we had seen it. With his tone, it was as if he was accusing us of intentionally leaving the pee there. Even after I apologized, he repeated the phrase again, "We will close one eye this time."
He used passive aggressive language towards my father who had not been to the cafe before - "As I mentioned to you just now, dogs cannot sit directly on the chair." - before offering us a pee pad. Had they ever considered that we would have been able to respect the rules if they had made the pee pad as accessible as the paper towels and poop bag were, or if they had more initiative in providing us the pee pad?
I've always been grateful for this cafe for being air-conditioned and pet-friendly. Signs regarding the house rules for pets should be clearly stated, rather than communicated with such disdain through the staff. Glad to see that I wasn't the only customer in the reviews who faced such an experience, so I know I'm not alone, but disappointed to see that despite the reviews, there haven't been any improvements regarding the staff. Hope the management will do something about it, unless they too are, "closing one eye".
Honestly, I feel embarrassed for introducing my dad to this cafe, only for him to have had such a...
Read moreWow! That's my first response when I sunk the fork into the beef rendang to pick up a piece of it for my friend. It's the very definition of fork tender! The meat remain intact without breaking up but in the mouth, it almost melted. I'm totally swooned over. The gravy was something to contend with too.
I must admit that when we decided to have their Nonya dishes, I was rather skeptical. I thought their western fare would do better based on the restaurant's decor. That goes to show never judge a book by its cover. I'm glad I'm wrong. The rice is also fluffy and "liap liap", a small detail but made a huge difference when eating with the rendang gravy. The nonya chap chye did not fail either. In fact, it is much better than the Michelin awarded Peranakan place in Dempsey Road!
The clam chowder (not part of the Nonya cuisine but something I had been craving for) was also delicious with plumped mini oysters and clams in thickened broth. I do prefer it thinner but I cannot complain much since they gave generous amount of the oysters and clams.
I will return to try their curry fish head with more friends which the staff said it could be a bit too big for 2 persons.
During our after meal coffee, my friend commented that the service staff (we encountered 3) are really efficient and friendly. I must agree with that as they did check if our lunch was alright and topped up our water without us asking. I also ask for different table which the waiter oblige promptly without showing signs of inconvenience. He also recommended their popular items and they turned out more tasty than i expected. Thank you very much!
Our meal of clam chowder, ngoh hiang, beef rendang (4 pieces and highly recommended), chap chye, 2 rice and 2 coffee cost around $86. Totally value for money! I will return soon.
Update: It could not be any sooner! I raved about it to my daughter and we ordered takeout the very next day. We have crab meat fried rice, curry chicken, ladies finger, har cheong gai (boneless), kueh pie tee with tiger prawns, fish maw noodle soup, sambal squid, pork belly ijo, on top of beef rendang (must have), ngoh hiang and chap chye. The...
