The standard of food prep and in your Serene Centre outlet has gone dramatically downhill, I'm very sad to report. 3 soft tacos looked like a crazy person made them - one had cheese, two did not, tomatoes on one end and nowhere else and all smashed carelessly together. Both of the guacamole sides I ordered had huge hard chunks of avocado and big chunks of onion in them (see pic). Your guac used to be a little chunky but smooth and consistently mixed. I had to pick out the big pieces of avocado at home, chop them up, put them back and re-mix. My wife's pulled pork taco had no guac inside, despite me ordering this and being charged for it (see pic). And to top it all off, I could not understand the young guy who served me because he spoke so fast and so slurred (think: really lazy student Singlish). And it's not my angmoh ear either - I've lived here for 33 years and live in a Singaporean house so I know the accent intimately but I simply could not understand your server. All in all, this was a pretty miserable experience. If you want to survive, you've got to train your staff not only to prep the food properly but to speak to your customers properly too. Last year, your team in Serene Centre was excellent and the food was great but it's going downhill since. If I go back again and get treated like this, I'm finished with GyG for good. At $62 for three people eating fast food, I cannot justify it, given the lack of quality. Thanks for listening! EDIT: please tell me the email address I can send to so I can satisfy your reply. I'm not posting my email address in here! Thanks. EDIT #2 @Dec 21, 2021: it should be noted that the Customer Satisfaction people at GyG contacted me and were concerned about my bad experience recently at their Serene Centre outlet, which is nice to see. They also treated me to 3 free meals to compensate me for my previous charge, which my wife and I enjoyed today. So I'd just like to say thanks to Rachel at GyG for responding and I hope the feedback was put to good...
Read moreI hesitate to write this because I’ve always had excellent experiences at GYG but today it didn’t hit the mark.
Ordered via the table QR code (great stuff, lets you skip the queue and have your order delivered to your table), but perhaps the system isn’t syncing or something - my order went through, I waited for 20min and still no food.
I was in a rush but seeing how busy the place was (still, no excuse, the table next to me arrived later and got their food earlier; it was clear they missed my order), I thought I’d order a coffee at the counter and check on my order at the same time. But instead I was told “you ordered online just wait”. Ok, sure, I’m sure they’re working on it now, and I have my coffee to keep me occupied.
Now, after almost half an hour, the restaurant was visibly less crowded, and I went up again to check, politely, and reminded that I was in a rush. My order was taken manually this time, rather reluctantly, and finally served under 5min.
While there was an apology and I recognise the effort to compensate with a slightly bigger portion, the food also fell short. The spicy burrito bowl was with 1 drop of sauce, leaving the steak extremely dry. On one side of the bowl the steak was dry, on the other, it was undercooked and chewy. I appreciate the effort, but I don’t think it was a great recovery.
Notwithstanding, I’m a fan of GYG and will still continue eating there, but this experience really stood out as...
Read moreFood is good, decent, satisfying and delicious. Some things I would recommend to eat and I would always go back for!
Drinks are fine. Had an Iced Latte but I’ll let it go for the rest of the drinks, because GYG isn’t quite a coffee maker so I’m not sure how to make it taste better.
Had the: Slow cooked beef Burrito Bowl Which was good! With rice, cheese loaded on top melting oozy and yellowing the bottom of the bowl with some salt and fat, and then a little bit of salt and tender, roasted, pulled beef streaks under a bed of fluffy warm rice. For fibre, expect mushy and soft black beans, round and thick and then covered with fluffy white rice.
Grilled chicken tacos Soft - Flour (Skin) It is delicious and has a great texture and combination of flavour, protein and texture. Think chunky yet chewy and delicious chicken cubes, shreds off diced lettuce leaves for some crunch, and cheese melt with some tomatoes.
Nachos and Guacamole small Perhaps the best thing to do is to add a little bit of salt and guacamole to the nachos and add some excitement and anticipation and nachos to taste and it will be delicious!
Pulled pork The only thing I would like to not repeatedly order soon.
Iced Latte Oh, and the iced latte! Ha. Might be worth checking out the store next door for some good iced coffee.
