What do you do when you miss traditional Saigonese food from Vietnam? You come here to Huong Pho get your kick of Beef Pho or in Vietnamese language Phở Bò , plus, THE OHHH SOO FAMILIAR Saigonese Chả giò, also known as fried spring rolls in layman's words. The beef broth very savory. Beef meat was smooth and tender to the bite, never asking you to put in more effort to mince them in your meat grinder mouth. For sure the memories of Saigon lives in the wonderful Chả giò, as the roll skin texture is way way different from alot of other well established restaurants who claimed the same authenticity but never lived up to their claims. It's definitely NOT the Nangyang Popiah texture for sure , every bite is a reminiscence of beautiful Saigon street food. The Bánh mì they serve is to my palette of being traditional to the core albeit some meat and vegetables freshness tasting differences between SG and Saigon which is coincidentally also known to Vietnamese locals there as SG. The generous serving of hand made pork liver Pâté with very excellent cuts of meat with drizzles of accompanying sauce to fine tune the multitude of flavour layers when you sink your fangs into the baguette 🥖. Yes, you need to fulfil your calling with crispy well toasted bread whose surface texture was cleverly chosen by the owners to add more fulfilling bites to the wonderful traditional Bánh mì , that EVERY lover of delicious Vietnamese baguettes should experience. There are some lesser educated and even lesser travelled eaters whom I read in other Viet eateries reviews scorned the hard crunchy bites and softer inner glory of Bánh mì ....Dude if you don't know Vietnamese culture nor Vietnamese food, and you wanna put in your 7-11 microwaved sandwich comparison, get a life elsewhere , cos obviously you are unfamiliar with the world around you!
When I was shooting traditional Vietnamese weddings in Saigon and other provinces, and gotten hungry whilst travelling to the bride's home, nobody I know orders McDonald's brekky, me and my Vietnamese photographers rushed to grab Bánh mì to fill our growling stomach because it's such a delicious staple food that many or a large percentage of locals there enjoy. Sure you will be spoilt by many modern variations of the baguette and it's fillings but I do like my Bánh mì traditional, authentic and al dente. To each his or her own.
Bò Kho is one of the best I had EVER had in Singapore. Thick rich stew and very tender beef chunks that's great with rice or even a baguette 🥖 Kosong. Every serving into my mouth is Saigonese techno music to my ears, because it taste exactly the same as the ones I had in Saigon every single time.
If you are busy employee always working your life away, or, a company boss who cannot afford to visit Saigon for the original Vietnamese taste because you and I know the Vietnamese food in most Joo Chiat outlets (or well established Vietnamese food joints in malls and some food courts ) are just academically badged versions, you need to drive down here or press that ORDER button if it's available with food delivery services .
You will be charmed by the friendly lady boss and her ever so smiley husband. It's not just the food you know. It's who cooked...

Read moreFood that’s cooked from the heart! For the quality, freshness of ingredients and evident amount of prep work that went into the food- the price is totally justified.
Truly appreciate the effort and ethos the friendly and approachable store owners have as it is hard to find cuisine prepared with such attention to detail in today’s commercialized and capitalistic world. The flavours are clean yet hearty.
The Banh Mi with sardines and pork belly was a paradise of textures- crusty bread, sardines made in-house, pickled vegetables with just the right amount of tartness that cut through the rich flavours of the pork belly and sardines.
The chicken pho’s broth is truly wholesome with natural flavours brought out by fresh, kampung chicken boiled for hours. While awaiting the collection of the orders, the sight of the glistening pho left us in immense anticipation. The seemingly unassuming dish certainly left us pleasantly surprised! Everything in the dish just came very well together. The coriander and spring onions, the generous slices of chicken and the springy texture of the pho accompanied by the flavourful broth is comfort to one’s soul. We were so excited to eat that we forgot to ask for lime and basil, which would certainly elevate the flavours of the delicious pho further.
We will certainly visit again because Huong Pho’s philosophy and dedication towards their craft is incredibly admirable. Thank you so much...
