Underwhelming, rushed and impersonal experience. Will not come again for the omakase
Friendly staff, but they totally rushed the meal so I did not enjoy myself. They kept serving the next course even before I finished my current dish!
Imagine halfway eating, someone comes puts the next dish in front of you while you are chewing, explains it and walks away. How is that acceptable?
Even all the sushi was prepared well in advance by the head chef and left on the side for the other chefs to place in front of me right after I swallowed. I was so annoyed I told them off. They apologized and they were patient for one course, then they decided to speed up again.
The head chef is from Japan, and even he did not care about his customer. He served me a big piece of tamago, and just when I literally put the last piece into my mouth, he immediately served me a handroll! I haven't even started chewing!
It's actually a hilarious visual really. Seeing this chef standing right in front of me, watching me like a hawk. The instant I popped the piece into my mouth, he swoops in and serves the handroll. The eagle eyed chef strikes again!
Very impersonal also. Zero interaction with the head chef as well. He did his sushi for me then walked to the kitchen door and stood there by himself. (Except the part where he decided I was too slow or something, and decided to watch me eat my tamago)
Food: The fish is fresh. They have many lunch sets available so that's probably a better option. They should not market themselves as a omakase restaurant. They obviously don't understand the concept. Quite a lot of customers eating the lunch sets.
The shari (sushi rice) is just ok, did nothing to enhance the sushi. The sushi all came with toppings which was forgettable. The non sushi courses were ok, no highlights. There is a randomness to the courses as well. Richer tasting fish like toro was served before white fish. Roast duck as an appetizer ?Sweet tamago served in between , not at the end of the mains?
Took some pictures, but stopped after being rushed so much.
Did not enjoy myself. Overall impersonal, super rushed that I could not enjoy myself, average food, go...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of celebrating my wife's birthday at Haku Sushi, and it was an unforgettable experience! We opted for the dinner omakase, which allowed us to trust the chef's expertise and enjoy a carefully curated selection of dishes.
But what made the evening truly special was the extra touch we arranged with the restaurant. We requested a live lobster preparation, and the team at Haku Sushi went above and beyond to make it happen. The lobster was freshly prepared and presented with flair, making it a truly memorable moment for my wife's birthday.
The omakase experience itself was exceptional, with each dish showcasing the chef's creativity and attention to detail. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the flavors were expertly balanced. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including some unique and innovative creations that surprised and delighted us.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Chef Yamamoto and Chef Carlson, and their entire team, for their warm hospitality and exceptional service. Their passion for providing an outstanding dining experience was evident throughout the evening, and we felt truly valued and cared for.
Overall, our experience at Haku Sushi was truly exceptional. The combination of outstanding food, excellent service, and special arrangements made for a birthday celebration we'll never forget. If you're looking for a unique and memorable dining experience, look no further than Haku Sushi!
Thank you again, Chef Yamamoto, Chef Carlson, and the entire team at Haku Sushi, for a truly...
Read moreMade a reservation for the 2nd seating of dinner service at 8pm. Upon arriving on-time, the service staff was attending to some diners on the seat arrangement and we stood at the reception area for a while which wasn’t ideal. However, the staff does carry great smiles and tea was refilled promptly.
The food in itself was quite delish, but don’t expect high-end ingredients and perfection in presentation for an omakase at this price point.
Note too that the Tokusen sushi course with the red wine shari (chef’s signature) may not be what you would expect as the shari carries a sweet smell and taste, similar to a floral sweetness. It was not to my liking as the mixture of savory and sweet tones was a clash on my tastebuds in my opinion, perhaps this could be toned down a little.
Of highlight would be the uni negitoro handroll (+$15 ea) on top of the omakase, creamy and indulgent, but more crunch could be added in the negitoro for a more multi-dimensional bite.
Throughout my dinner, while no fault of the restaurant’s, there were 2 diners seated behind the counter who were coughly loudly incessently. This was highly disturbing and disruptive to the whole experience I had.
All in all, the value of the food matches the price point, but do head over with lower expectations. Not all omakases are the same and you get what...
