Unable to comprehend how there could be a high review. It is my second visit after 2 years, and this time round, I was thinking let's give it a chance, try the fish, as the steak I had 2 years ago was very terrible. It turns out, the fish was equally terrible. Bater was actually good, but the fish is fishy and have a funky taste. How can fish and chips be fishy? Even if I have a normal fish n chip at kopitiam it is not as fishy. Ended up have to use lots of chilli n tartar sauce. Certain part of the salad is bitter??? And it is not due to the olive

Service is bad. Literally non existence. We waited outside the empty restaurant (only 1 customer) at 530pm, as it says "wait to be seated". No one came to serve us after a while wait. We walked in, sat down n then tried to get the attention of the only "working" staff that wasn't looking out for customer at all. Given a QR code to self service order. I must self service would be better than to have them take the order.

The 2 free bun came. But only one butter. Went to the counter to ask for the missing butter. The butterscotch beer (like rootbeer) is served, with no straws. Perhaps it is hilarious to them that customers all have "milk mouth". Went to counter to ask for straw.

I think a second chance is the last chance. Just a lousy place to dine, and spoil a new year eve early dinner.

Again, I don't mind paying for good food. But I have issue if price is not cheap n food n dinning experience is substandard.

After this second visit, I downgraded the rating from my previous 3 star to 2star.

When paying at the counter, I told the staff bluntly that the fish and chip is bad. Guess what? He doesnt acknowledge it and just ask another lady that is suppose to be the manager to entertain us. We told her briefly food is bad, and she just stood totally stunned. Not to put anyone at a bad spot, we just left.

Novena has lots of good eateries. Please skip the josh grill. Hans on first level will be much better than novena josh grill. Aroy Thai on 3 level is superb and seriously should try. First level have lots of yummy food also, like the Hong Kong cafe n the manzuk porridge. Also unatoto unagi is very nice too....

Regret having novena josh grill for new yr eve dinner. I could have taken toast box n be belly happy.

The reviews I read seems high so I came to the newly opened outlet with expectations. Was disappointed with the overall quality of the steak. It lacked taste for some reason, perhaps due to tenderiser being added ( for both ribeye n sirloin) ?

The sides cannot make it. Macroroni with cheese is suppose to be a hot side but it's lukewarm, n the slight rubbery. Other sides also not taste

The onion rings looked great. But it tasty super oily and jalard when u eat it. Salad is lukewarm... Kinda weird.

The only dish I liked is the oxtail pasta.

If compared to Aston which to me is a 4 rating, I can only give...

TLDR: Steak is a joke, really bad meat quality and they cant even grill it properly. If you are still keen to dine here? Sort by lowest review to filter out all the fake "5 stars" review to get to the honest feedbacks.

This is by far my worst dining experience ever. Poor quality meat and expensive price tag. Even their basic chicken chop cant compared to astons and they priced it so much higher.

I ordered a T-bone steak, which was expected to be a highlight of the meal at almost $80 after taxes. The staff looked so confused, as though i was the first customer to ever order that. They had to check with other waiters and ended up in the kitchen to check with the chef if we could order it (big red flag in hindsight).

Ordered the steak medium but it came rare.. The steak was so poorly cooked and unappetising, with the interior rare throughout. The meat was tough and chewy, which made it challenging to even cut. Additionally, the flavour was lacking, and the texture was quite off-putting.

There was ZERO sear on the steak. The lines you see aint grill marks but black soot from the grill. I dont know how you pulled this off, perhaps the steak was frozen and didnt have time to thaw.

The meal was served with a side of mac and cheese and fries, which were average at best and did little to enhance the overall experience. Portion of side was also very little for a set meant for 2pax..

Also, to "pick a bone" on the t-bone, the cut was totally crap. Rare and chewey steak aside, it wasnt even a "t-bone". For those who know, t-bone has a larger striploin and smaller tenderloin on both sides of the T-shaped bone. This only has edible meat on 1 side. So, its actually and "L-bone"... The smaller part of the steak was so tiny, it was smaller than the blade of the steak knife. And it was all chewy fat we couldnt even cut it out (see photo, we didnt even manage to eat that portion, what you see was an attempt to cut out the tenderloin). I dont believe the tbone steak was 600g precooked.

Given the price point, I was expecting much better quality and care in the preparation of the food. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and improves the quality of their offerings...

Service quality is excellent. Staffs are on point and friendly. Would like to comment 1 staff Ms Debby. Bright and warm. The others too did their best to assist us.

Could it be possible to make plain water a free item? Warm or cold water does help a customer if it is a hot or wet day outside.

Background music is very very irritating. Abit too loud. During our course of makan, it was lowered down. Awesome.

I ordered the ceasar salad. Very nice. That is why I took photo. From ordering to service, the time was short.

Fries with cheese n spicy bits is not bad. New and fresh. Ordering to service was short. Not much waiting time. Perhaps tone down abit more on the Indian spice?

I personally ate the salmon steak with baked potato and cold pasta noodle. Salmon was abit off despite being well cooked. Not over cooked. The lemon on top, I am not sure if it was for decoration or? It is charred? Caramelised? Not sure what the point for it 😅

Cold pasta is OK, very thin noodles. But the taste, can be improved? It is healthy, not oily.

Baked potato is I think perhaps baked too long? Well, was hungry and ate it all. 🤫🤭

My mom got herself salted egg sauce with fried chicken. The mac & cheese with butter rice. The fried chicken might be abit too salty?

The salted egg sauce, well I don't think it can be called salted egg sauce. 😅 sorry but I think it might abit too Indian spice?

Butter rice could be improved. Mac & cheese, perhaps could use cold water to wash the starch off 1st? A good attempt but can be improved.

My sis got fish and chips. Together with mashed potatoes and brown rice. Brown rice could be much hotter? Mashed potatoes could be less milky? It was awesome when it's warm and hot. Once cold, it was abit over? Perhaps it is just us.

In conclusion, things could be improved more in the kitchen. Front of house is not bad alot better than other outlets within novena mrt vicinity. If I am hungry, coming back for the appetiser is...
