Food review updated on Feb 2025 *Price increase tremendously 20% since 2024. (see last menu photo) Beware of some items that charging very high at $2.40/pc and minimal $4 up to $10 per orders. Take note before order. *No longer a very affordable foods to visit, probably once a month max.
Great flavor traditional Chinese Fried Snacks. We usually called it Wu Xiang, means five fragrance fried snacks 五香炸物 (something similar like Japanese fried foods)
If you are first time visiting n trying such traditional flavors. You must try their fried tou-fu, they fry it from fresh tou-fu piece by piece, unlike other similar food stall taken tou-fu from factory which already pre-fry and re-fry again when order, that make the tou-fu hard and dry.
But this stall have it fry from fresh and tou-fu are soft and juicy and tasty in you mouth.
For the rest of the items, you may try their chestnut fish cake, fish ball, prawn fritter, octopus, meat sausages etc. All of them are tasty and delicious. Price are range from $1/pc+-
Probably only item that I'm not recommending was prawn crackers, it seem taken from factory and visibly over fried and dark unlike it used to be quite white and fresh in taste.
Anyway, this stall was a popular one in the coffeeshop, so prepare to spend more time before you can enjoy it.
*Take note of difficulty to find carpark lots in this area. And parking wardens is always around the...
Read moreStalls from this coffee shop were from the old jackson road market....highlight is the duck rice stall, the ngoh hiang and the porridge/macroni stall
Duck rice is not my favourite and so i cannot give a good review...but most reviews say it is decent
Porridge/macroni stall is quite good...it hails from the old stall underneath the bridge to toa payoh...now is helmed by brother/sister team...so far have been eating the pork porridge...must say it is good
The ngoh hiang stall is the famous lao zhong zhong ngoh hiang which sell fried fritters...the first time i came to this coffee shop, one thing that catches my eye is the small mountain of fried fritters. Make me ponder on how the stall is going to sell them all in one day.....how wrong was i! It could be said that for almost every table in the coffee shop, a plate of fried fritters can be found...specialty of the stall is the fried tau po and the squid ...make sure you also get extra chilli.(which is hot and has a tangy taste)
Other stall includes the usual drink stall, the satay bee hoon stall and the bcm stall (which is decent but somehow the stall tend to upgrade your order unless you spell out otherwise)
This coffee shop is also frequent by office worker after work from nearby...

Ngoh Hiang - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ingredients fresh, taste not bad. Price was ok. The sauce is heavy with vinegar which I can understand because all Ngoh Hiang items are deep fried. Having sourish sauce will help to make one’s palate less jelak.
Porridge - ⭐️ Ordered pig intestine porridge 猪杂粥 $6, but this is not 猪杂粥 mate. There’s only sliced pork, minced pork and liver in it. Having additional liver doesn’t make your porridge 猪杂 ok? I hope this clear. Now, the porridge texture - it is grainy and lack of rice fragrance 米香味. This is another fail. The porridge is heavily seasoned and on top of that, they added lots of 冬菜 which is also very salty. So the whole bowl is rather nonsensical to me.
Bak Chor Mee and fishball noodles - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Noodles is al dente which is good. Meat ball is not bad, fishball is also standard factory stuff as usual. The soup at the side taste nice. But the overall noodle dish is salty. If the chef can tone down the salty level of this dish, I believe it would be better.
Parking is challenging. Very limited...
