I ordered combo pho. the broth was disappointingly bland. As a native Vietnamese who has tried many bowls of pho in Singapore, I considered it really subpar. came there at 8pm and most of the dishes have been sold out. last order is 9:30pm. Not sure what the reason for the many sold out dishes were. Given this is the opening week, the fast sold out of food gave us the impression that the restaurant does not have enough stock, capacity? Once the food came, the staff brought the food to the table without telling us what the dishes were, left us, the diners stunned and not sure what the dish belongs to whom. I asked the staff how the promotion for the chocolate mousse worked. The staff disappeared for a very long time to check, then came back with an answer that the promotion is available but failed to provide any answer of how could I redeem the promotion which was the main purpose of my question. the chocolate mousse is overpriced (7.9 dollars) for a small cup of chocolate mousse (with uneven amount of mousse for different cups, you can see the unevenness clearly from the glass display - which I consider very unprofessional), even more expensive than a Starbucks cheesecake. Would I order the mousse again without the promotion? Nah, I don't think so. When I exited the restaurant, the staff looked at me straight in the eyes without saying goodbye, thank you, see you again. I consider this as a very low level of service which I have paid 7% for. Before I came to the outlet in 313, I expected the service level in this outlet - being in Orchard to be better than the outlet in beach road (which one time the staff demanded me to close the door after I entered the restaurant) but it seems like the service for Mrs pho in all outlets is really disappointing and dissatisfying. Would I come back to Mrs Pho in 313 again? No, I...
Read moreBroth could have been more flavourful. The beef slices were quite tough if you don't tear them a certain direction, despite how paper thin they were cut. There were only 3-4 slices, but they were quite wide which probably made up for the thiness. The pho itself was quite decent in texture - not sticky or overcooked or undercooked. Coffee was nice.
I am not sure why they have a robot waiter. The restaurant is too small. The bowl and various utensils etc. would have been better to be laid down by staff because of how big the bowl is + the amount of stuff you have to take (palate with utensils, drink, soup bowl, chili) I don't know why I am paying service charge tbh. I felt that there was no service, it was literally me taking out all the stuff myself and then going up to counter to pay.
Total was $15.05. not worth it for the meh food.
And while food itself was quite meh which typically would be three stars, I'm knocking off another star becuase your waitress was extremely annoying. I asked not to be seated at the high chairs, so she made me stand around quite some time even though there was a row of empty tables in the other side of the shop. Then I was seated and proceeded to place my order, then she came back and repeatedly asked me if I wanted to move seats. The first time I told her I couldn't understand chi, so she switched to English to ask again. Then I told her no, I'd rather not, sorry. Then she kept repeating the question again and again until I said yes! What kind of waitress does this other than yours? Is there some kind of company policy saying only X pax can sit on the table? Becuase if so she could have said that there was such a policy instead of forcing me to say yes as if she was doing me favour, when in reality she was inconveniencing me by...
Read moreIt's not authentic Vietnamese, one can find better Vietnamese in some foodcourt stalls and other similar chains. MRS Pho used to be real authentic in it's earlier years.
This review is solely based on their pork dry noodle (salad). As you can tell from the picture - the authentic version has mint leaves, basil, on top of the usual. This one has no herbs like mint leaves or basil, only iceberg lettuce, beansprouts and carrots. Even cucumber shreds are little.
The meat ball also tastes like Taiwanese sausage and fake which is terrible. Not sure which Vietnamese recipe has this version.
Also minimal service to justify the 10% service charge- the only service is them bringing the food to you. Ordering is done on app, payment is done in person at cashier.
This outlet often "run out of items". At 2pm on a weekday, they ran out of all banh mi and the beef dry noodles. How is that possible? This wasn't the first time they do not have certain items.
The 2 reasons I gave 3 stars instead of 2: The portion size is quite decent especially the grilled pork to noodles ratio. Also like that the pork is mostly lean. For 11++ a bowl in the middle of orchard i think that's way above acceptable. Taste of the grilled pork is average, a little tough and seasoning like satay, not a big deal. The fried spring roll was nice. Overall taste of the dipping sauce, freshness of ingredients was ok.
Overall, it's okay to visit it if your expectation is just to get a relatively wholesome meal quickly and not spend too much. But...
