If this review is just solely about the food, then it could possibly be 4 stars, though there are opportunities to improve the overall experience.
The signature small portion ($7) should suffice for most people, as it comes with a good portion of fried fish, a full hard boiled egg soaked in thick sauce. You can choose from a variety of noodle types, by the way⌠yellow mee, mifen, guo tiao and pian (flat - which is the usual for lor mee, for the uninitiated).
Nothing to complain about the food, though some other lor mee establishments do include Ngoh Hiang (five spiced pork rolls) as well. Itâs tasty enough but doesnât stand out for me. The one at the actual Old Airport market beats this with even more generous portion of fried fish and more meat.
Now if you only care about the food, then you can stop reading right here already, as the following expands on the aforementioned opportunities to improve the overall experience for the customer.
Get your own table and if you sit somewhere near the entrance, you may find the constant drone from some unknown source a tad annoying, especially if you are sensitive to a constant barrage of low frequency noise.
Go to the cashier and order, from menus that change a little too fast on the digital screen above the cashier. So if you cannot see all options (and there are quite a few), you just have to wait for the menus to cycle through, which can be annoying especially if there are people waiting behind you. So perhaps, stand aside to patiently go through the menus so you can just order when ready.
We ordered our choice of noodles with drinks and went back to the table to wait for the number to flash. We didnât realise that we were supposed to just get the drinks we ordered from the fridge though. Fine with that, but would be good to be told.
Now, about the âhomemadeâ drinks⌠these come in the form of disposable plastic cups with sealed plastic lids⌠of which the pull tab part of it will BREAK before you can pull it off enough to insert a straw⌠and well, the standard skinny straw is not rigid or sharp enough to poke through. So what I noticed, is that people will grab these straws, realise that they wonât work, only to discard or add them back to the straw dispenser (yikes) and take the thicker colourful straws to get through the plastic lid⌠I ended up poking the lid with my chopstick but well, consider yourself warned. And oh, it isnât to obvious too but you can get cheaper drinks from the fridge too ($2 for the canned/bottled drinks which is $1.50 cheaper than the âhomemadeâ ones).
Quite a bit of a rant there. Ultimately these are minor quibbles but yea if you are there for the lor mee, you probably wonât be disappointed. I will probably go back to try the...

This restaurant was featured on Food-King Good and Michelin BIB Gourmand, Makansutra, and many others. The standard Loh Mee comes in 2 sizes, at $7/$9 and 4 types of noodles to choose from. It has various side dishes, at $5/$7 each plate. I ordered a $7 Loh Mee and one fried pork side dish at $5. Loh Mee, with good amount of meat including fish and shredded chicken, whole egg. Gravy is smooth flowing, not that very thick type. It suit my taste and love it. You can ask to add a little more vinegar to it. Great to have it during lunch, as it's quite full. Place is relatively clean and tidy at all times. While dining here for around 30mins, many customers are coming in and out, dine in, takeaways, food delivery pinging non stop. the serving rate is fast too, faster than fast food restaurant. When you are at Balestier road, do come drop...

đš Salt & Pepper Mushroom â This was a pleasant surprise! Well-seasoned, crispy on the outside, and retaining that juicy mushroom texture inside. A great snack to start with.
đšFried Wanton â Another good pick. Nicely fried with a satisfying crunch and a tasty filling. Simple but done right.
đš Lor Mee â My first time trying it here, and while it had the typical flavor youâd expect, there was nothing particularly outstanding. At $9.90 for a large, it felt overpriced for a rather standard bowl.
đš 3-in-1 Prawn Noodle â A letdown. The broth leaned on the saltier side, and at $9.90, I expected more. Instead, it came with just a few sad pieces of prawn and meat, making it not worth the money.
đš Pricing & Value â The food here is on the pricier side, and while some dishes, like the salt & pepper mushrooms and wanton, were enjoyable, others didnât quite live up to...
