Have been patronising the Paradise Group with my family for over a decade and haven't been disappointed thus far with the various speciality restaurants. First time at their hotpot chain after seeing the rave on social media. TBH - it felt underwhelmed when we entered the premise purely due to the contrast of anticipation from what was seen online. In hindsight, I should have read up more about the outlet and not assume.
Waiting Time == 5/5 == Brought family for a Sunday lunch. Made reservation online hence no waiting time. Staff would confirm the menu type and soup bases at the front desk before ushering guests in. To save time, it's best to know what you want already.
Atmosphere == 4/5 == This outlet at Compass One should be the smaller ones of all because of the cosy setup and mostly ala-carte ordering concept. Music was mostly HK canton oldies which was nice for a change in a mild art deco concept.
Self-service Station == 2.5/5 == Only one station. Condiments are limited but the basics are there. Tend to have a short queue because everything is jam-packed in the corner (

Dear Paradise Group Team
I am writing to share my feedback regarding my recent dining experience at Paradise Hotpot (Compass One outlet) last Saturday, 5 July 2025.
As a Paradise Group member, I have always enjoyed the quality and consistency of your restaurants, which is why I was particularly disappointed with this visit.
My brother had highly recommended Paradise Hotpot after his positive experience at the Punggol Coast Mall outlet, where he enjoyed an extensive spread, including fountain drinks, a dessert station (with soft beancurd, pancakes, ice cream toppings), and a hot food buffet (e.g., braised pork rice, tea eggs, fried rice). Social media videos also showcased these offerings, which influenced my decision to visit.
However, the Compass One outlet fell significantly short of these expectations: Limited Beverages & Desserts: There were no fountain drinks or ice, and desserts were restricted to small cups of vanilla/chocolate ice cream served by staffāunlike the self-serve dessert stations at other outlets.
Missing Hot Food Spread: The buffet spread with items like lu rou fan, tea eggs and fried rice were absent, despite being advertised online and available at other locations.
Slow Service: Orders placed via the app arrived late, disrupting our dining flow.
Given that the pricing (including weekend surcharges) appeared consistent with other outlets, the disparity in offerings felt like a misrepresentation. For a brand known for its standards, this inconsistency was surprising and disappointing, especially for a first-time visitor like my family. I hope this feedback helps improve the Compass One outletās alignment with Paradise Groupās usual quality. Iād appreciate your clarification on whether these omissions were temporary or location-specific, and how you plan to address such discrepancies.
Thank you for your attention. I look forward to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy second visit today on July 10th; the first was just 2 weeks ago, during which I tried the Premium Buffet (at off-peak timing).
As I'm not too hungry nor particularly in the mood for seafood, I'll check out their Value buffet. With this, I will be able to make direct and objective comparisons with the Premium :)
Value buffet here (@$19.90++ from 231pm till 430pm) means no beef! You basically have to contend with pork for the hotpot: pork collar and pork belly. There are some pork-based items too.
They do have chicken; but imho chicken cmi as hotpot meat, no matter the cut :(
For soup base, I chose cordyceps flower with mushroom, which supposedly is the only "vegetarian" option on the menu. (But when it came time to top up, they poured in pork bone soup, citing cordyceps uses the same base... Oops! š)
The pork belly was rather fatty, so I went easy with just a tray of 4 slices. It tasted soft when cooked, which is actually nice š
For the pork collar, it was immediately distinct that this sliced meat is inferior to both the kurobuta and Spanish pork options offered with Premium!
With nothing much else to eat -- Premium offered prawns, fish, small Jap scallops (hotate), etc, which can keep you quite busy! -- I decided to venture out into what I generally term "yong tau foo" territory š
First off, the dumplings with pork and chives were pretty good. Make sure the soup is bubbling and cook them for a good 5 mins. As usual, expect saltiness from the fillings, typical with Chinese style dumplings.
Next, the Teochew style fish paste (it's bouncy but salty!) fared much better than the pork paste; the latter is just minced pork served on a cut-open bamboo tube lol
The Fuzhou prawn balls failed to make any impression, what with the uncharacteristic filling inside!
As always, the safe bets for veg were baby Romaine and spinach š
I didn't order much food today, but was already filling full. So much so that I skipped my fave Mingo ice cream this time š¤£
