I used to enjoy Paradise Hotpot at Compass One years ago, but this recent visit was a complete disappointment. The standard has dropped drastically while the prices have gone up. We paid for the premium set, only to find it came with just one type of beef. And it was a terrible cut, full of veins, extremely tough and completely bland. The prawns were embarrassingly small, stale and had a powdery texture that made it hard to believe they were fresh. What made it worse was the service and dining restrictions. Although it is an 80-minute dining limit, we waited 20 minutes just for the soup to be served. That left us with barely an hour to eat, for a price of S$45.60 per person. The food choices were limited and nowhere near what you would expect from a hotpot chain charging premium prices. It felt rushed, overpriced and utterly underwhelming. This place has gone from a decent hotpot spot to a complete letdown. I will never return to Paradise Hotpot again and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Decent value for money, opting for the $25.90 Premium Option with beef and seafood, dumplings, shrimp paste options for 80mins (60min ordering only). Some hotpot ingredients (tofu, sausage, vegetables, noodles) are on a self-serve counter. Excellent selection of cooked food suitable for all ages, fried food like nuggets, popcorn chicken, luncheon sticks to stirfried cabbage, cauliflower, fried rice. Some porridge, soup options available too. The Taiwan braised pork rice was surprisingly good. Decent sauce station too. Dessert and fruits are plentiful with customisable beancurd and toppings, pancake making machine. However, the mala soup itself was quite bland and didnt pack a punch. the beef was tough and the pork collar / US kurobuta pork were thickly sliced, making them hard to chew on. Compared to Shabu Sai’s beef and pork meat at a similar price point, Paradise Hotpot’s fell short. Plenty of staff who are very helpful and cheery, great service as usual from Paradise group 🤩

Felt scammed. 80mins. Dishes and soup almost took 15mins. Ordered Luxury set. Paid abt $63 per pax. Total 6 pax. The whole birthday dinner was disappointing. Kurobuta, Iberico and the most basic set pork collar. All 3 looks the same and taste the same. We checked with the staff what pork is that. She mentioned kurobuta, after a while she changed her words again, said it’s iberico. I believe all 3 kind of pork is actually the same pork. Tough and lean cut. Even after cooking for 10seconds, it’s already too tough to chew. Iberico pork shouldnt be like this. Color don’t seem right too. Bright red? Almost $400 for a group of 6 adults is not worth it. Half full for dinner crowd is already quite obvious. They really got to take in feedback from customers. Food quality is bad for the $60+ per pax. The most basic buffet option will make more sense if u guys wants to eat here. For that price, nth to complain much.

Have been patronising the Paradise Group with my family for over a decade and haven't been disappointed thus far with the various speciality restaurants. First time at their hotpot chain after seeing the rave on social media. TBH - it felt underwhelmed when we entered the premise purely due to the contrast of anticipation from what was seen online. In hindsight, I should have read up more about the outlet and not assume.

Waiting Time == 5/5 == Brought family for a Sunday lunch. Made reservation online hence no waiting time. Staff would confirm the menu type and soup bases at the front desk before ushering guests in. To save time, it's best to know what you want already.

Atmosphere == 4/5 == This outlet at Compass One should be the smaller ones of all because of the cosy setup and mostly ala-carte ordering concept. Music was mostly HK canton oldies which was nice for a change in a mild art deco concept.

Self-service Station == 2.5/5 == Only one station. Condiments are limited but the basics are there. Tend to have a short queue because everything is jam-packed in the corner (

Please kindly refer to my written feedback to Paradise Group following my dining experience at this outlet. Everything that you need to know about this outlet is in my feedback to them:

Dear Paradise Group Team

I am writing to share my feedback regarding my recent dining experience at Paradise Hotpot (Compass One outlet) last Saturday, 5 July 2025.

As a Paradise Group member, I have always enjoyed the quality and consistency of your restaurants, which is why I was particularly disappointed with this visit.

My brother had highly recommended Paradise Hotpot after his positive experience at the Punggol Coast Mall outlet, where he enjoyed an extensive spread, including fountain drinks, a dessert station (with soft beancurd, pancakes, ice cream toppings), and a hot food buffet (e.g., braised pork rice, tea eggs, fried rice). Social media videos also showcased these offerings, which influenced my decision to visit.

However, the Compass One outlet fell significantly short of these expectations: Limited Beverages & Desserts: There were no fountain drinks or ice, and desserts were restricted to small cups of vanilla/chocolate ice cream served by staff—unlike the self-serve dessert stations at other outlets.

Missing Hot Food Spread: The buffet spread with items like lu rou fan, tea eggs and fried rice were absent, despite being advertised online and available at other locations.

Slow Service: Orders placed via the app arrived late, disrupting our dining flow.

Given that the pricing (including weekend surcharges) appeared consistent with other outlets, the disparity in offerings felt like a misrepresentation. For a brand known for its standards, this inconsistency was surprising and disappointing, especially for a first-time visitor like my family. I hope this feedback helps improve the Compass One outlet’s alignment with Paradise Group’s usual quality. I’d appreciate your clarification on whether these omissions were temporary or location-specific, and how you plan to address such discrepancies.

Thank you for your attention. I look forward to...

My second visit today on July 10th; the first was just 2 weeks ago, during which I tried the Premium Buffet (at off-peak timing).

As I'm not too hungry nor particularly in the mood for seafood, I'll check out their Value buffet. With this, I will be able to make direct and objective comparisons with the Premium :)

Value buffet here (@$19.90++ from 231pm till 430pm) means no beef! You basically have to contend with pork for the hotpot: pork collar and pork belly. There are some pork-based items too.

They do have chicken; but imho chicken cmi as hotpot meat, no matter the cut :(

For soup base, I chose cordyceps flower with mushroom, which supposedly is the only "vegetarian" option on the menu. (But when it came time to top up, they poured in pork bone soup, citing cordyceps uses the same base... Oops! šŸ˜‚)

The pork belly was rather fatty, so I went easy with just a tray of 4 slices. It tasted soft when cooked, which is actually nice šŸ‘

For the pork collar, it was immediately distinct that this sliced meat is inferior to both the kurobuta and Spanish pork options offered with Premium!

With nothing much else to eat -- Premium offered prawns, fish, small Jap scallops (hotate), etc, which can keep you quite busy! -- I decided to venture out into what I generally term "yong tau foo" territory 😁

First off, the dumplings with pork and chives were pretty good. Make sure the soup is bubbling and cook them for a good 5 mins. As usual, expect saltiness from the fillings, typical with Chinese style dumplings.

Next, the Teochew style fish paste (it's bouncy but salty!) fared much better than the pork paste; the latter is just minced pork served on a cut-open bamboo tube lol

The Fuzhou prawn balls failed to make any impression, what with the uncharacteristic filling inside!

As always, the safe bets for veg were baby Romaine and spinach šŸ˜‹

I didn't order much food today, but was already filling full. So much so that I skipped my fave Mingo ice cream this time 🤣
