Food here really cannot make it, especially the Hotplate Egg Tofu which was so soupy and tofu so dried with egg also precooked. Will never come here again.

I was having my dinner at the outlet at Compass One and the service was horrific. I felt as if I was not valued as a customer in your outlet and will not go back to that outlet of the Penang Culture restaurants again.

My wife and I went to the restaurant around 8.30 pm. We know it was quite late for dinner as we work on Sunday as well. Thought to get a nice and relaxing meal but it was horrible experience.

Your staff made me feel like I was stopping them from going home. They seemed to be rushing to go back as their focus was more on cleaning up instead of looking at customer service. I am not a difficult customer but I should be given the most basic service.

Followings are the negative aspects I received last night.

The staff who is a lady who wears the badge of 'Pang' led us to our table. We found the table for two quite cramp as thinking of ordering a few dishes for my wife and I to share. She said the other tables are closed. We said ok and she even brought an extra chair for my items to be placed on it. (This is commendable.)

When we saw two customers left their table near to us while we were waiting for our food, we asked the supervisor who walked by if we could take that table. He was very polite and even brought our items to that table. (That was a table for four.) After I sat down, I can see that 'Pang' was visually not happy and asked the supervisor why we sat there. Then she went to talk to another lady behind the counter whom I presume is the manager of that outlet. (This should not be the case as we are not unreasonable. We just wanted a more comfortable dining experience.)

After ordering our food, the food came very fast. However, one dish which we ordered was not told to us that it was no longer available that night. We were kept waiting till we had to ask one of the crew about it. He went to check and told us that there was no more curry chicken. We were appalled as we were not even informed by anyone as the staff was more focused on cleaning up instead of on the customers. As not to trouble the staff any longer, we decided we shall have our other dishes only. We also cancelled our dessert as we are not in the mood for it anymore.

While we were having our food, 'Pang' was busy sweeping the floor in our presence while we were eating. Though she was not sweeping our area but the proximity is close. What if the dust went around the environment? Into our food? She was making quite a bit of noise with her broom. We were so disappointed with the whole saga at your restaurant when we only wanted a peaceful and scrumptious dinner. Very very disappointed. Most likely, we will not go to that outlet anymore which we used to enjoy going for authentic Penang Cuisine.

Hope this feedback can help for your training of your staff to avoid such experiences for...

Had dinner with my family @ compass one Penang culture on 13 July . Scanned to order and there was 1 x $20 voucher and 1 x $10 birthday voucher for me to redeem as July is my birthday month . After we finished , I proceed to the cashier to pay , to my surprise , I was questioned by the female cashier - how come I have a $20 birthday voucher to offset which she is not aware that there is one before - I show her the app to proof there is such voucher and I redeemed it thru the member portal . When another male staff approached the counter , she asked him - do you know if there is a$20 birthday voucher ? he too replied - never come across before . She even login to her own member portal to check why she don't have one since July is also her birthday month and they both concluded it could be a system error and she asked the male staff to check with office on Monday . She go ahead to let me pay for the bill anyway cos she say is the office issue not her issue . before I leave the restaurant she asked to leave my mobile no. and say don't worry , we will not ask you come back to pay the $20 - maybe she mean it as a joke but I don't find it funny instead I am very disappointed and disgusted by her service to a customer . Btw , I am a gold tier membership , after checking - gold tier member will have a $20 voucher for her birthday month and a $10 voucher from Silver , correct me if I am wrong cos I think I deserve an explanation and if it is really an system error , I don't mind to pay for the discrepancy . Hope to hear from someone...

Worst customer service! We ordered a promotional set, and a staff recommended that we can use a $2 meal voucher. However, it wasn’t until we were halfway through our meal that they informed us the voucher couldn’t actually be used together with the promotion. Instead, they expected us to return another time just to redeem the voucher, meaning we’d have to pay the full price for the dish this time. We found this inconvenient and unprofessional, especially since they only told us this almost at the end of our meal. After some discussion, they eventually agreed to let us use the voucher.

When making payment, despite agreeing to accept the voucher, the staff dishonestly tried to scam us by deducting $2 (which means we have paid for the remaining amount for that dish instead of allowing us to use the $2 voucher which was already agreed previously) without informing us. It felt like they assumed we wouldn’t notice as they did not showed us our final bill for confirmation. When we confronted them, the staff dismissively said, “what’s done is done.” and saying that it is unfair for the staff to pay for their “mistake” when it was their responsibility to check and inform customers beforehand, not at the end of our meal. So now pushing customers to makeup for “staff’s mistake”? Only after further insisting did they finally refund us the...

Food is not the best I have tried but still considered not bad. Felt that the char kway teow could be better with more wok hey. White kopi chicken is unique. Mapo tofu was the best of all the dishes we tried.

I remember trying their food a few years ago at Causeway Point, and it was average. However, I recently stumbled across their TikTok account where they showcased how they made their kway teow, which intrigued me and appealed to my desire to visit their outlet again. I made a reservation via phone because I couldn't book for 4 people after 7:30 pm on the website for some reason. The person who attended my call was friendly, and it was a pleasant booking experience. When I entered the place, I was stunned to see how vibrant and how much Penang culture had changed in terms of its interior and brand personality. Most importantly, I feel that their food quality has improved significantly since the last time I tried it. I love how they portray themselves—the menu, the design of the place, and the attire of the staff bring so much warmth and identity to Penang culture. Though the food is on the pricier side (total came about $132 with prawn and desserts that I did not take pictures of), I must say I do recommend it for special occasions or if you would like to try their kway teow.
