Saizeriya @ Hougang Mall outlet
Displeasure dining experience and even safety threatening moments!
3.5 star for the food (the corn was dry as hell and still can serve to customers) and service I had to give one star. Atmosphere is 2 stars tbh. I shall explain.
We were seated at the table at the aisle to the kitchen area- at 3pm plus- there were trolleys of frozen food delivery which I almost got hit as the space between tables made the pass through just enough to squeeze through. I was back facing where the trolleys came in (both trolleys came in at two diff timings), my friend was the one seated facing the entrance and she had to warn me not once but twice! Seriously, I get it you need your supplies - but where the hell is the manager?? Shouldn’t someone be there to manage safety of customers?? What if the trolleys knock the customers- be it seated or moving around taking drinks. What if the boxes toppled while trolley passed between tables where there are customers. I hate to say this: this is not acceptable to safety guidelines for sure!
The plus size guy be-spectacled staff had a handful of dirty stacked plates and cutlery collected back from customers who had left- the pizza cutter flew under our table. We didn’t know was that but we saw a cutlery flew down from his collection and to our horror, it was a pizza cutter!!! It could have just cut our leg! Omg!
The same guy, the ah beng slight long hair guy and a white hair uncle- all took turns to keep asking if they could clear our used plates. The restaurant wasn’t even full nor peak hour, are you all that short of plates?!? Or is it a “KPI” for staff for the number of plates they need to collect daily? Seriously?! The plus size guy- came and asked to take my plates where I am still eating my pasta and using the bowl to throw my empty mussel/clam shells, please…. Or would you prefer me to throw all over the table?!?
The conversation with my friend was interrupted again and again for the ‘empty plates” clearings. I know Saizeriya is not high end restaurant, I always love the food but I didn’t get the same experience from other branches I have visited so far!
Seriously, the hougang mall branch manager needs training for safety guidelines and management of staff. I know staff could be part timers or what I don’t care, budget food or not- I think the customers deserve at least some basic...
Read moreUpdate: tonight is my last night dining here, as it was the last straw. Manager rudely told me to pay by card because he said he was "closing" (it was 9.50pm at that time). Then i said, no I preferred to pay in cash. And he threw the pen down and showed me attitude. As a customer, I have the right to choose to pay with whatever payments I want (unless it's mentioned beforehand before I sat down, that certain payment modes are unavailable) let alone being felt like I'm forced to pay a certain way and given attitude in the process. I called that out to him, and he gaslit me - using the classic gaslighting and deflection lines; "nooo I didn't do that" this and that and "ok if you want to feel that way then I have nothing to say" - making the whole situation worse. Not only did he showed attitude at the start, and refused to admit his mistakes sincerely, he twisted the story around and pushed the blame to me. Completely uncalled for and unacceptable. And since that past time until now all the issues I've mentioned below have largely not been improved. They don't seem to care about feedback at all and only want to act certain ways, and it felt like they intentionally want to steer away from official corporate guidelines that are unfairly geared towards their personal advantage at the expense of the customer. And my spaghetti Bolognese came out watery today. This outlet is by far, the worse saizeriya outlet I've dined in.
i like saizeriya, but the staffs at this outlet, have always been blur, disorganized and lack common sense. to be fair, can see that they put in the effort to be nice, but they really need more training in their work. eg; dont put the dirty pail at the drinking water tap the whole time - move it aside when not using. dont throw away the table slip when customers still need to use it to pay for their meal (some customers prefer to use the slip and not have to physically remember what their table number is). when you see the customer still wiping his hands and mouth, dont so kan chiong to clear the table first when there's no more customers coming in - LOOK, think (use common sense) and wait a while before asking (cos you clear all the plates then the customer still place the dirty tissue papers a few seconds later after you clear, then wont that be non-sensicle? just wait a while then clear...
Read moreA disappointing lunch at Saizeriya Hougang Mall on 29 Jun 2025. My daughter had a craving for their chocolate lava cake. When the dessert was served, the cake looked sunken and the molten chocolate had already oozed out from the cake (See 1st pic). We asked the manager why the cake looked different from what was shown on their menu (See 2nd pic extracted from restaurant's online menu). The manager explained that it was heated up for an extra 5 seconds and thus the chocolate oozed out. I asked if he can change a new one for us and warm it up to the correct timing (without the extra 5 seconds) to ensure that the chocolate lave will be ooze out when we cut into it. He replied that it will be the same and will be tasted the same anyway. I insisted that he changed a new one and he reluctantly prepared another one for us. It turned out that the cake in the 2nd serving was still sunken and chocolate lava oozed out (See 3rd pic). I asked for the manager's name and he asked if I was going to file a complaint. I politely asked for his name again and he spelled it out as "Chimmiri". After a few moments, Chimmiri came over to our table and his attitude changed to a friendlier tone probably because I had noted down his name. He explained that Saizeriya had changed their recipe and that their cake no longer looks like the spongy type shown on their menu. I had my doubts and I definitely not going to visit another Saizeriya outlet just to confirm that. I would rather bring my daughter to patronize other restaurants whenever she has...
