Have always been a fan of Soup Restaurant and today, I visited this outlet for the first time.
Firstly, the auntie who served us was extremely pushy and annoying for no reason at all. We were deciding which set to order (we were a group of 5) because we wanted to order other dishes on top of the set as well. She started making comments like “How is this going to be enough for 5 of you?” to which I told her we are intending to order other dishes. To be frank, why can’t a group of 5 order a set recommended for 3-4 pax? Do we have to justify that?
The food came pretty quick. About 10-15 minutes into eating, and after drinking a quarter of my honey lemon drink, I noticed that there were ANTS in my drink. I was so disgusted because I’ve already consumed some. There were more than 3 ants floating in my drink. We immediately got the wait staff to change the drink and to my surprise, she did not apologise at all. Minutes later, she came out with another cup of honey lemon, telling us that they made a brand new cup. I obviously decided to check the drink before I drank it. Lo and behold, there were ants still… At this point I was so close to stepping out of the restaurant. No apologies? Never mind. But they didn’t even bother double checking this second cup BEFORE bringing it to my table? Unbelievable.
We then opted to change the drink to barley and it was tasteless.
No form of service recovery or anything was done. Super disappointed and disgusted. Will not patronise this...
Read moreJust godawful- the worst dining experience we had during our trip. We were a family of 8 meeting up in Singapore, and just wanted a nice New Year’s lunch.
Where to start?
The waitress will welcome you and place peanuts and fried fish skin on the table- all of which will appear on your check without your okay-ing it. Then they offer tea- which again, you will be charged for. None of it is complimentary, which is fine if explained beforehand, but all of this happens without your knowledge. You need to express refusal and have them take back everything being placed on your table that you didn’t specifically order.
They will hand you sanitary wipes, one per person- which will again appear on your check at outrageous prices (about $2.50-3.00 per tissue).
The food- with the exception of their chicken rice- was not only unsavory, but nauseating to look at and smell.
And last but not least, the way some of the younger waitresses and hall managers treat the elderly staff is just shocking. No person should ever be treated that way, and the rotten tone in which they were yelling put the final lousy touch to our already abominable experience.
If we could give this place minus stars, we would give it a minus 10. What a waste of space and time. I can’t believe we spent almost 800 dollars here, only to walk out and head for an actual meal. Why we didn’t read these reviews before going...

I made a reservation for 15 people to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday, and the staff went the extra mile to arrange a private corner for us so the family could spend quality time together. I really appreciated that thoughtful touch.
It’s been a long time since I visited Soup Restaurant (it’s usually hard to get a seat!), but after taking the first bite of the signature Samsui Ginger Chicken, I realised how much I missed it. ALL the dishes were so delicious—just like how I remembered it. ❤️
Special shoutout to Ah Moi, who took our orders. She was super warm, friendly, and patient with us—even gave us great recommendations and helped us enjoy the best discounts. In a world full of QR code ordering, it was so refreshing to still have someone take our orders personally. Please don’t ever switch to digital-only—it makes a huge difference!
Also want to thank Yan Fei and Michelle, who were equally friendly and provided amazing service.
Great food, great people, and a really memorable celebration. Will definitely...
