I went there for prata promotion. They were pretty good.
In December 2022, I went to Tampines Branch again and suddenly remembered to ask if Safra member got discount, cashier said have. Then I said can use with the cash voucher, cashier said no, but she did go to check with a seated man and man said can. All this while I forgot to ask about safra discount and cashier will not remind you. You need to watch out for this.
In Jan 2023 I came again and now cashier insisted I cannot use the evoucher with the discount. And cashier oddly said there is no supervisor to ask. It was not a good experience and I am downgrading my review. I ate mutton biryani, it was alright, although minimal side dishes of cucumbers and no yoghurt and no mashed beans
Edit : later in Jun 2023, I finally managed to have a Safra staff, Sebastiaan Shimasaki Chia, informing me that I was correct that cash vouchers should indeed be treated like cash and the restaurant should offer me the discount. I have been scammed by this tampines branch and also the one in Jurong for telling me that discounts are not allowed.
Edit: 28 Jun 2024. I am here again but I spent some time in both emails and a voice call with Gladys Safra to establish on the protocols of vouchers and members discount. This time round the order was completed successfully without the cashier denying my member discount. I order the most expensive dish of lamb shank biryani at 19 dollars and also a large teh terik and a prata O. The lamb shank is horrible as it is relatively hard and difficult to tear apart. It is the worst shank I ever had and not worth 19 dollars. The prata is nice at 1.40 per piece and it goes well with the fish curry. The teh tarik large is at 2.20 but it is not really so big size.
Edit: 28 Aug 2024 I came down to get a biryani and used member discount and e voucher successfully without being denied by the manager who was also the cashier. This was a nice surprise after this place has been cheating me of my discount previously. When I asked about safra points he told me their machine was down. Luckily I knew about the use manual paper entry and asked and indeed I could fill it up manually for the points.
Edit: 2 Sep 2024. I came down for the safra fifty cents promotion to get their prata in a cup and teh tarik. Teh Tarik was nice and came fast but the prata was slow even though there were only three more tables around in the early morning of 8 am
The prata in a cup they added one egg prata and a kosong prata and poured fish curry into in and served it in a cup. I would say that this might require an acquired taste and also if you were in a hurry and needed to pack this and eat lazily. Otherwise for me, the whole thing was soggy and difficult to eat. I struggled to complete it and was having indigestion for the rest of the day. I will definitely skip this concoction in future
Edit 30 Jun 25. All went smoothly attended by a Chinese cashier guy. Voucher & discount all used without a hitch. Also obtained member points. They however rushed out my prata & thosai although I told them to serve later. The curry chicken was a thigh. Quite horrible. Once bitten, it was super tender and became a mash in the mouth and was tasteless. Mutton biryani was alright but gravy was too salty. The plain prata was the best dish although fish curry was too salty. Thosai I am not familiar with it & not sure how to appreciate. I...
Read moreVery bad customer experience, relating to only 1 particular female service staff at the safra tampines branch.
Sorry for the long review below, but I sincerely hope the management will look into it. As we still love springleaf prata and do not wish for it to be ruined by 1 service staff.
Date/Time of visit: 27th August 11+am to 12+ pm
Table no: 2(From 12pm onwards)
Incident 1a: The aforementioned staff tripped on the baby chair and almost have a fall and subsequently stared back at my kid on the baby chair.
Incident 1b: The aforementioned staff came over and told us you need to move the baby chair, if not people will trip and fall. Ironically, the position of the baby chairs are not placed by us but the springleaf prata staff. We did comply following that and move the baby chair so that it would not be in the way.
Incident 2: After we have finished our first round of prata, I ordered another milk tissue prata. After waiting for 20 minutes, I asked the aforementioned staff to check on this. The aforementioned staff just nonchalantly said it is coming without even checking. After another 5-10mins, I checked with another male serving staff who said that he will help check on it. I just need a reassurance that someone is checking it and that the order is coming and not misplaced.
Incident 3: We were dining there with our 2 kids and as the kids had pooped and needed to change diapers, my wife had brought them out for a change of diapers. There was a family seated to the left of us with 2 kids, who had asked politely whether we will still need the baby chair and I have responded that we will still need it.
Subsequently, the aforementioned staff approached me and ask if we still need the baby chair. I have already told her 3 times that I still need it because my kid haven't finished the Milo. She continued asking again whether I still need it because there was no food on the table. That was the moment when I lost my temper and raised my voice and said," I still need it, I already told you 3 times already, why are you still asking." After which, she still continues arguing until her colleague came in to intervene and pull her back.
Incident 4: My kids had used their own forks and spoons for eating and after eating, when the aforementioned staff asked to clear the plate, I admit that it was my neligence but I said it is ok to clear the plate. The aforementioned staff took the plate and my kid's fork and spoon away. After my wife came back from the toilet and asked about it, we realised the aforementioned staff have taken it away. When my wife asked the aforementioned staff about the fork and spoon, the staff just said she did not see it and everything has been thrown away into the rubbish bin. When my wife asked her for the rubbish bin to search for it,she went into the kitchen and immediately appeared miraculously with the fork and spoon. The staff is obviously just lazy, all we need is for the staff to go...
Read moreFirst of all, let me say that me and my friends are usually fans of their food in general. Yes, their prices are on the higher side but their food is above average and have some good variety in our opinion so we feel its worth the occasional visit.
That said, we jumped at their recent $9.90 offer for prata buffet and 4 of us booked a day to go. Their method of ordering and terms were reasonable and we ate our fill for about 3 rounds. (2 prata per person each round) The last round we ordered 3 sweet pratas to finish. 1 paper with sugar and milk, 1 prontoast and 1 milky. We shared and finished the paper and prontoast no problem. The milky however was bigger than expected, like a mutabak size and the taste was too sweet compared to the other 2. Our first time trying since it was in the buffet options but not to our liking, still we did our best to finish it. We scrape most of the "milk" inside the prata out and ate the most of dough. Leftovers were like scraps of the milk and like 1 or 2 small pieces. End of it the staff clear our table and inform he will weigh the wastage, which we thought wouldn't be a big deal as we do not have whole pieces of prata left or what we would think it will be counted as wastage. The staff brought everything to their kitchen and later came out showing a screenshot of their weigh saying that it exceeds 100g...by 19g so they will charge us the $5 wastage.
This is the first time I encounter a buffet that weighs scraps as wastage to charge. Scraps that are like the typical leftovers flakes you eat any pratas would have. The milk scraps that we scrape out so that we could finish the prata... He didn't even maybe give us a chance to maybe finish the 1 or 2 small pieces that could bring us under the 100g.
This experience leaves a very sour taste to us. It makes it seem like they are so petty and desperate to earn the wastage charge to make up for the cheap offer. If you wanna be so petty and strict might as well don't do the offer in the first place. You expect the customers to lick the plates clean? Pity, me and my friends would probably not support them anymore after...
