I was very skeptical to try this place based on the mixed reviews. Much to my prediction, the ambience felt very underwhelming.
The service was very poor. Came in during noon which is an hour later after they opened their restaurant, not much crowd but the staffs already looked like they just dgaf and wanna go home. Staff weren’t proactive with their service at all. No recommendations for the menu since we took quite some time to order. Just stared at me behind the counter and waited until I raised my hand to finally get my order. Super awkward vibe. And also poor hygiene, served my glass by holding onto its brim.
Food tasted very mediocre. Came to try authentic Thai signature dishes. So we ordered Crabmeat fried rice and Steamed squid with spicy lemon sauce. And Mango sticky rice for desert.
Fried rice was very plain and bland, some parts are salty. Pale, didn’t look as vibrant as it looks in the menu. Didn’t taste authentic at all. Not much crabmeat. Rating: 1/5
Steamed squid w/ spicy lemon sauce was okay. Portion was probably for 3-4 pax. Dish was heavily doused with a lot of garnish, the lime just overpowered the dish. Wasn’t spicy, just sour. Didn’t have any wow factor in this dish that made me wanna come back to eat. Rating: 2/5
Mango sticky rice was meh. Mango wasn’t sweet at all. No authentic feels to it. I love mango sticky rice and I have tried others which are so much better. Oh well. Rating: 1/5
Overall, I will never ever recommend this place. Literally came all the way down to the west side just to bring my bf to try authentic Thai food since it was his first time. Should’ve just gone to like Bali Thai or Thai express or whatever. Not worth the journey and money....
Read moreEdit: We went to the branch in Simpang not here. The staffs here reminds me of a game called "Zombie Cafe". To put it bluntly, McDonalds staff has a higher service standards.
Staff - All, literally all its staff were just going through the motions and lacks emotions when talking as though they are being forced to be there. Talks monotonously, doesnt give recomendations, answer your qn with one word reply. No pride in their service at all.
Food - We were curious to try out the food given that many of our friends gave raving reviews. Alas, we are dissappointed by the taste and quality of the food. The tom yam soup was normal and abit too sweet for me. Cockles we ordered were bad, smells rotten and were not clean properly as there were still sand debrises inside. Mince chicken was average also. Edible but doesnt taste authentic. Taste more like mince chicken with soy sauce.
Conclusion : For us, the taste is subpar combine with the lackadasical attitude of its staff were just off-putting and enough to put us off from coming back ever again. There seems to be no manager/supervisor to handle complains. Even when we inform of the quality of the cockles, the staff simply take it back and bring it back to kitchen without saying sorry and seems stunt, insouciant at our feedback as though what we said were something so bizzare and hard to apprehend. Eventually they gave us complimentary ice cream saying "They give u ice cream". Put it on the table and simply walk away. Really the worse F&B ever, i hope the owner reads this and do something, ur kitchen and floor staff alike is in need for...
Read moreStumbled upon this gem after hiking at bukit timah. If you are craving for a spicy tom yum soup, this is THE place for you. Our orders came within 20mins. Not crowded even during weekend afternoon too! Near DTL and parking lots available. Price is wallet friendly!
Had been craving for a clear tom yum soup for quite some time now bcos Far East plaza’s cahaya restaurant weren’t selling them anymore. Fyi, Time for thai serves red and clear tom yum soup too!
Their soup was utterly rich in flavour and we ordered more spicy version. I can confirm my tongue was burning but not to worry, its not as numbing as Mala. You know how your throat feels powdery after slurping down some tom yum soup? This tom yum doesn’t do that! Fragrance weren’t overwhelming and the seafood portion were adequate. If you are starving, get the large portion. Rice is not included
Papaya salad was a refreshing appetiser. Tangy, slightly spicy and peppered with crushed peanuts, each bite doesn’t disappoint. Serving was big though, i would say definitely too much for 1pax.
Pandan chicken was alright. Only comes in 3pcs per serving i believe. I prefer Koh nangkram’s (along bugis st) pandan chicken tbh.
Home-made iced lemongrass and thai green tea was delicious. Iced lychee, again normal & safe bet if u didnt know what to order. Will come...
