Was asked to vacate our table to accommodate incoming guests. However, our frustration was not with being asked to leave our table, but the reasoning that was unwelcomingly provided by the service staff — that we were "technically not allowed to study (in the establishment)" — even though there were 8 other tables around us that were similarly engaged in work, with laptops, tablets, and notebooks visibly in use.
In our case, each of us had bought a drink and accompanying plate of pastry to enjoy , making it evident that we were not occupying seats without contributing as paying customers.
Apart from that, we occupied three seats at a four-person table, while there was a couple beside us using a four-person table (to work) without issue. Logically, it would have made more sense to optimise seating based on the number of unutilised seats — in which case, to perhaps kindly ask the couple (who were also working) to be relocated instead of us. However, this was not the case. No offence to said couple.
This inconsistency in enforcement and the manner in which we were singled out gave an uncomfortable and, frankly, discriminatory impression.
Lastly, I wasn't studying — I was clearing some work during the weekend as a working adult. Still, I couldn’t help but feel that my attire — being dressed in t-shirt, shorts, and slippers (like a student) — may have led to a different treatment than that extended to other tables.
We understand and respect the need for the service crew to prioritise new patrons, and would have gladly left / moved to an outdoor table if this had been courteously requested. However, this was not the case. This interaction felt unfair, bitter, and unwelcoming, which impacted our overall dine-in experience at this establishment.
To the younger generation that live in the area, perhaps it might be wise to come with your family or visit other nearby cafes instead. Either that, or you should come in with a suit and tie for your tea break here.
Advice to service crew: It doesn't hurt to be kind. Not all customers are assholes, or out to make your lives hard.
Advice to management: It seems like service has been a pre-existing problem based on the other Google reviews left by customers. Perhaps it might be time to act on such feedback, and work towards implementing effective and sustainable change within your...
Read moreI am writing to express my disappointment regarding a recent experience at your establishment that left me feeling offended and uncomfortable.
While dining at your bakery, a staff member named Ziele approached my table in a very abrupt and rude manner. Without any greeting or context, she questioned us like interrogation by saying, "You ordered only one cup of coffee, right? You should automatically return us the extra cup." At the time, we were simply enjoying our food and conversation, unaware of any issue with the order.
We calmly responded that we didn’t realize there was a mistake. Zila then walked away, only to return a minute later to take back one of the coffee cups they served wrong. Her tone throughout the interaction was accusatory and unprofessional.
I tried to clarify the situation and even offered to pay for the extra cup, explaining that it appeared to be a mix-up on the part of the staff. However, the way she handled the situation felt very disrespectful and left a bad impression. It’s disappointing to be treated this way, especially when the error was not ours.
In addition, as a staff member in a food and beverage establishment, Zila was not wearing her mask properly—it was pulled down to her chin the entire time I was there. This is concerning from a hygiene and safety perspective. If masks are not worn correctly, they offer no protection at all, which defeats their purpose entirely. I found this very unprofessional and worrying, especially in a food service environment.
This experience truly soured what was meant to be an enjoyable visit. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and ensure your staff are better trained in customer service and...
Read moreI’m so happy that TBB has opened an outlet in the East Coast! Absolutely love the ambience & decor here 💛💛💛
What I love: Super friendly & patient staff. I took a long while to decide what to eat 🥹🥹 Tis so hard to choose when everything looks tempting 😂😂
Special mention of their Branch Manager, Mr Lai. 💯💯 He’s very professional & made me feel very welcomed. The decor of this TBB Outlet is really lovely! Somehow, it feels kinda Wes Anderson too #iykyk
I came here to chill before a night zoom meeting. I chose a table facing the Road. What a view!!
Music: the music selection is good ❤️
Food: Their well known Kouign Amman is so good! 😋😋 I enjoyed their Croque Monsieur although I did find the crusts a bit hard. I feedback to Manager Lai & he’s very receptive to my feedback.
They have a promo now: Buy a savoury item and get your drinks at 50% 💯💯
They also have a loyalty card scheme which can be used for all TBB outlets. To be frank, I like the good ole loyalty card. Too many loyalty program apps to download nowadays clogging up my phone 😅 …. The simplicity of just getting a chop on my loyalty card is really priceless.
They serve complimentary hot & cold water (from a self service water dispenser) which is 💯💯💯
I’ll definitely be coming again for sure. N to get more chops on my...
