We dined on a Friday night, the overall experience was rather average, lacking any standout qualities. Firstly, the taste of the dishes failed to excite my palate. The flavors were mediocre and didn't capture the authentic essence of Hunan cuisine that I was expecting.
Additionally, the prices at the restaurant were quite high, considering the underwhelming quality of the food. I had hoped for a more affordable dining experience, but unfortunately, it didn't align with my expectations. The pricing seemed disproportionate to the overall dining experience.
Moreover, the ambiance of the restaurant was far from ideal. It was excessively noisy, making it challenging to have a comfortable conversation with my dining companions. The constant clamor from other guests and the lack of soundproofing created an unpleasant and distracting environment.
Lastly, the portion sizes of the dishes were disappointingly small. Given the prices charged, I had anticipated more generous servings. The lack of substantial portions left me feeling unsatisfied and compelled to order additional dishes, further adding to the overall expense.
Overall, my visit to this Hunan restaurant was lackluster. The taste of the food was unremarkable, the prices were high, the atmosphere was noisy, and the portion sizes were inadequate. It fell short of delivering an enjoyable dining experience that one would expect from a restaurant...
Read morePassed by this new restaurant in Bedok which is their new branch. Ordered 1 fried cauliflowers (the picture showed those crunchy and sweet cauliflowers from Taiwan, (大菜花)but the dish that came out are those cauliflowers from China, shortchanged and not nice! We were recommended their signature hot plane beef which the waitress said very aromatic but the dish tasted worse than Mixed Vegetable Rice stall(hawker) stir fry meat. Told the waitress no aroma at all and the waitress offered to redo, still the redo dish tasted more of garlic flavour but no aroma or wok hei at all. Portion is also very small and they charged $19.90 per plate. Disappointing! We also ordered their signature frog’s legs in spicy gravy, tasted so bland and totally no fragrance. And the final dish which was their signature grilled fish covered with pickles, totally no aroma too. In conclusion, the food are not tasty, portion small, ingredients used are not as seen on their menu. The only good is the waitress who was friendly and good at marketing. But sadly they could not deliver what they claimed to be tasty. Nothing was yummy here, all 4 dishes were really disappointing . Even their Tie Guang Yin Chinese tea which they charged at $4 per cup, wqs not fragrant at all! Total damage - $137 for 4 dishes , 1 bowl of rice and 2 tea. First and last time here. Regretted going into...
Read moreHad the pleasure of dining at Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine located in the Nex shopping mall, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish.
What really sets this place apart is their incredible selection of authentic Hunan dishes, particularly their sour and spicy fish stew. The stew is brimming with tender fish fillets, swimming in a boldly flavored broth that strikes the perfect balance of sour, spicy, and savory notes. It's an absolute delight for the senses and had me going back for spoonful after spoonful.
But the real icing on the cake (or should I say, the free ice cream on top) is their generous hospitality. Not only do they offer an extensive menu of Hunan specialties, but they also provide complimentary ice cream and snacks to all their guests. It was such a pleasant surprise and really elevated the overall dining experience.
The service was also top-notch - the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to provide recommendations on the best dishes to try. I left feeling completely satisfied and can't wait to return to explore more of their mouthwatering Hunan cuisine.
If you're in the mood for an authentic and flavorful Hunan dining experience, complete with free treats, I highly recommend checking out Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine at Nex. It's a true gem that deserves...
