4th or 5th time here. Busy night. We were a big group of 12 with 6 kids below 6. So you can imagine how hard it was to keep 6 kids seated while the food took over an hour to arrive. There was no heads up given that food would take this long. We complained 4 times over the hour before the first dish even appeared. Each time they reassured us that it was coming out while all their pre-booked in advance tables kept getting served. Now as a walk-in group, this was not the issue. The issue was that no one bothered to give us a heads up that food would take this long despite seeing how many kids we had. And how you kept telling us the food was coming when clearly it wasn't. Two dishes eventually came undercooked and had to be sent back. Ginger egg soup was far below the standard I'd previously had.

All they did was apologize for the inconvenience but offered no other resolution or discount.

Will not be back again despite this having been an early favorite...

The day before going to the dentist I had horrendous toothache and couldn’t eat anything solid. I asked the waiter if the kitchen would be so kind as to serve me one their soups, blended so there would be no solid bits. He went away and came back to say fine, no problem.

Ten minutes later the soup arrives unblended. I immediately sent him back (politely and affably) to the kitchen to get it blended, but he returned soon after to say Chef says no.

Rather than make a scene, I just took it (uta!) and spooned out the so-so-meh soup juice and left all the many lumps in the bowl, as pictured.

Baffled still as to why such a reasonable request was accepted when ordering then refused after serving, With service like this I obviously won’t be going back to Grotville!

Hopefully the “award-winning chef” at this grimy and bizarre location feels as though his lack of effort was worth the...

Do not come here if you are spending less than $300 which is the Minimal spending for VIP services, otherwise you would have to wait long time for ur dishes. My Yellow wine chicken soup took me so long & we kept asking since it was already the last dish but they kept saying it’s there soon. There means that you kept seeing dishes send to those outdoor pods that’s has more than $300 spendings.

After the soup has arrived, I had ordered another signature twin crispy hor fun, it took again so long & the waitresses again lied that it’s there but gotta wait for another 20 mins.

Basically no service, no one came to change our plates & the only time I saw someone was when they came to clear table for new customers.

Atmosphere more like rowdy a place people come for you know what in Geylang.

Won’t come again as there’s other good Zhu char in Singapore that...

Simple tze char dishes done right. We ordered a beef hor fun, steamed fish and garlic sautéed brocollini. The beef hor fun came unassumingly plated - did not look like the photo advertised, but flavours were good - satisfyingly greasy and hearty. The fish head was fresh and we opted for the HK style - which meant a light soy based sauce which brought out the fresh meatiness of the fish. I do wish the head could have been scaled better. The broccolini was really the star of the meal. Crunchy and fried with just enough garlic. I can’t state how simple but satisfying the flavours were. A flaw is that the place is quite big, and it can be hard for servers to notice you if you sit near the private car park. Plus the mosquitos were also an issue, so bring repellent or wear long pants.
