Much better than the one which was the Yakun Family Cafe. The tastes of coffee and the toast are consistent and the servers are more friendly compared to the other cafe. It is a good welcome. Competition is good even with the same brand. My favourite was the Wangs but for the moment they are closed under renovation. The previous cafe in the present Yakun, I guess, could not survive, in this trade. There is a very efficient layout of the preparation area and the ways the work flow. Of course the culture of the firm that practise good service and consistent food content will be preferred over any new comers. Many youngster that have the dream of owning a cafe and be their own boss, will easily burn more than 100K in setting up a single cafe the size of this new one. The late owner of Beef King, once revealed that his initial capital outlay was 200k for his stall at...

The staff are so grouchy early in the morning. When I asked for more soya sauce, the lady just rudely say they cannot provide the bottle and poured excessively into my eggs without asking how much I need and render the eggs not edible as it is too salty. Then when I went to collect the toast, the auntie just rudely shouted from inside to put the ordering device in the basket. Overall, it is a bad experience with poor customer service. I love the toast but such bad service can be sufficient for me to stop patronising Ya kun altogether. Just to add to it, me and my friends all had stomach discomfort the whole day after the meal, we suspect its the half boiled eggs which...

I have craving for the laksa and steam bread with butter here..I can see the staff who is preparing the food takes great care to do it well.. The taste said it all. I also like that I get to sit outside the Cafe facing the large courtyard like space within thomson plaza. Somehow I am drawn to the ambience. This outlet has much more to offer if.. . You see food crumbs on the floor (the aftermath of a toddler's meal time), used dishes at the side. I return my tray after eating but there is no proper place for it. I had to leave it on the clean tables.. I also saw a trolley of stuff at the cafe... All these are tell tale signs of process improvement...

Yakun's food and drinks always got standard, but quite ex for such small cups. Silky barley nice too, but very watered down. Love their steamed bread, and their soft boiled eggs has very orange, healthy yolks. Passable service and depends on which outlet. Their own cherish app allows you to earn points for rebates on future purchases but so far we haven't earned enough points yet, despite patronising yakun quite often. Tables are small and area is cramped. This outlet also leaves piles of stuff around seating area, which is unsightly. Still four stars because food is tastier and place is brighter and cleaner than competitors in the same mall.

Is Yakun kid friendly? What to order at Yakun for kids. 1) Jacobs Biscuits Sandwich with Butter Not exactly healthy but this simple yet delicious snack 😋 is a fave amongst kids. 2)Kaya Bread Toast The obvious choice at Yakun for kiddos and adults alike. 3)Cheese Balls You can't go wrong with cheese balls. Simple treat for the young ones. But....the seating is almost always occupied on weekends. Place is cramped and not really suited for children especially young ones to hang out. So get ready to wait or come early to avoid the crowd. They are open as early as 8am!
