They wouldn't know Italian food if it hit them in the face , this place being recommended by a family member we decided to visit it, up on arrival Friday night completely empty being a massive red flag we still decided to brave it. We have barely set down when the extremely pushy waitress tried to make the entire weeks takings income on us as I don't think anyone ever goes there because they know what we didn't, so we receive the starters that the waitress kindly forced on us, the starter being some cheap old mozzarella wannabe on rocket I wanted to already cry on the sight of it but here comes my partners one the "prosciutto" being store bought half cooked bacon wrapped around the same old mozzarella supplement and some horrid sauce they said is balsamic which it wasn't it was some weird tasting orange coloured paste but this being a country where it is considered rude to say anything we just smiled and left the dish untouched , here comes our waitress that didn't even let me read the first page of the menu trying to force the what ever horrid sea creatures they had left over in the freezer and as we are nor in Italy nor by the sea I thought it was wise to stay away, the waitress though did not disappoint she kept pushing on us her opinion even though we told her what we would like several times , here come the pizzas this is why we came but after the starters I had very low expectations and I was right the pizzas were just about warm and obviously again the "chef" haven't had the slightest clue what food is the pizzas had some random store bought sliced yes sliced cheese randomly placed on top and with the base completely soggy we just wanted to leave. But at least they have good orange juice.
And before you say that we are some sort of snobby people you are mistaken we just like good food as everyone else but this was anything but! I had better pizza for 1,50 from the freezer honestly.
Ohh and I think I have paid less at the top restaurants 20meters from the Colosseum it self in Rome...
Read moreI live in Hungary and we went to Esztergom and Štúrovo for hiking. I never thought in my dream that I would find an incredibly fantastic Fine Dining restaurant that I couldn't find in a 100km radius! I say this because the seafood in this restaurant is FRESH (ie not frozen) and the prices for that are not too high! So far I knew about squid that it had tough and chewy flesh, like a tire. But here it was so soft (because it was fresh) that it almost melted in my mouth. The mussels and king crabs were an incredible experience with real, fantastic flavors! I believe, we do not get any fresher seafood closer to the sea, than this. The restaurant's own oven-baked pizza dough deserves a special tribute also. This restaurant deserves respect in every way and I can recommend it to anyone who comes to Esztergom...
Read moreThe toilet is unworthy of this restaurant.
My suggestion is to build a closed corridor to the toilet, and the whole restaurant woud be perfect! Anyway this restaurant is the best thing in Šturovo and Esztergom and the whole region. (Especially in Hungary - all over the area.)
I'm Hungarian, but I'm ashamed that there is no such fantastic restaurant in Hungary - where the prices and quality are acceptable - like in this restaurant (fresh - not frozen - seafood and perfect quality).
I think that it was better for Štúrovo to become part of Slovakia and the EU. If Štúrovo had remained part of Hungary, this restaurant could never have been established (because of the high tax, the low salary, the impossible laws and the thief, the betrayal government - and because the euro is still not the currency...
