Gostilna Rekar — Restaurant in Kranj

We used to go here often some years ago and it was always delicious food for normal price. I still love their pies, super good! However, we went for a late lunch/dinner last month and although food was ok (not as good as I remember but we arrived late and they were out of lots of stuff from the menu) and service was nice, they first put on the table some "specially filtered" tap water which they then charged like 2€. We did not order it, they set it on the table together with the other stuff. For me it is totally unacceptable to charge me for tap water in Gorenjska. I dont care about filters, just give me regular tap water. We felt we did not really have any choice and when we saw the price on the menue we decided not to order any other drinks, even though we wanted initially. I was very unplesantly surprised since this has never happened before and I do not think I will be coming back again. Maybe we should have specifically said we dont want it and want regular water, but why even put it on the table in a first place, if we did not order it? Too bad, I really liked...

We arrived at 20:00 at night, the waiter first ignored us. We approached more.. he looked at us and then his watch. We approached even more. Then he finally gave us a look and made a gesture that he is gonna ask if we can still sit down to eat. All this with a very annoyed face. The first time i saw him smile was when he came back outside and told us we cannot eat/sit down anymore.. at 20:00.. when the closingtime of the restaurant was at 21:00. We had a great experience! We really liked the food. The bread bowl with the cream garlic soup is to die for. We both had the chicken medallions in hollandaise sauce which was also tasty, but the star of the show were the roasted potatoes (I swear they are just like my mother at home makes). The gostiona had a nice atmosphere, and the toilets are really clean and well maintained. But the absolute best part were the attentive waiters, their customer service...
