Koča na Gozdu — Restaurant in Kranjska Gora

It is hard to describe this with worlds. It was my first time sleeping high in mountains and it was memorable. Russian road that you must take from Kranjska gora already hinted it would be like going to prure mountain beauty place, that was approachable even for people with no mountaineering skills. When you get to the site, and you see mountain stretching over you, you feel mountain bliss. It is a unique feeling. Just take a photos.

Staff was very nice and wellcoming bzt also relaxed. Slovenians are well known of being very hospitable. We had a chat and I managed to learn a thing or two about most popular Slovene from written story whic even originates from a local legend. I managed even to get a new nickname as I did wear a hat like main character of that story. Kekec.

I don't kniw how it is during winter, but at this time this was cure for body and soul. If I will ever again wish for a retreat to nature I will visit this place and allow Mountains to fill me up with mountain spirit.

We (a family of 3) had a basic but clean hostel room with 4 beds (and for the price of a hotel room). The bathroom was next to us, it was very clean and well-maintained. The staff members were friendly and breakfast was abundant: cold cuts, cheese, vegetables, fresh fruits, hot cocoa etc. The view from the restaurant terrace is unbeatable. Things to be improved: The room could have been better equipped, e.g. individual lamps for the beds (there was just one giant light which was too bright). Bath towels would also be nice - we received hand towels only. The mattresses are also old and need to be replaced. Wi-fi did not work in the rooms. A fridge could be...

Climbed up this snowy landscape and eventually reached this restaurant which we thought would make a fine pitstop before continuing to the top. The owner was very friendly and spoke very good English. She was very informative and answered all our questions about the restaurant and the area. The food I guess you could was was local cuisine and we all enjoyed our varied selections. The menu is quite extensive so there is bound to be something that excites. Meal and drinks for 4 less than 40 euros. Home cooked in a warm family friendly environment what more could you ask for....
