A hidden perl in the prekmurie region that caught our attention online and through some recommendations of friends. It's a lovely place, well preserved, amd nicely decorated to local traditions. Once arriving at the restaurant all the fancy cars with plenty of foreign lisence plates are hard to oversee (mostly from Austria, German or Italy - wonder why...). The staff welcomed us lovely and provided us with a table shortly. The service was friendly and the menu also available in English. As for the starter I had beef tongue which was the best I've ever eaten! Totally to recommend. The mushroom soup was delicious as well. For the main dish I tried rabbit in carrot sauce with some kind of spezle (pasta). It's a local dish, but not for my taste. Actually, it didn't have any taste and the meat was too dry, therefore bit disappointing. However, the vine was outstanding and the café after, only the best. In general, the atmosphere was lovely, the habits & dishes very local, the staff friendly, although sometimes bit slow. Overall, still a hidden spot worth visiting and enjoying some fresh & local food, with...
Read moreMe and my partner enjoyed an exquisite meal at Gostilna Rajh today. What a delightful experience!
During our stay in Prekmurje I dare say that this was by far the best restaurant we've visited. Hence, today's Michelin star experience is one we won't forget anytime soon.
We enjoyed traditional dishes, made with fresh and local products. As a vegetarian I was also surprised to find a wide variety of dishes on the menu that I could choose from.
To make a long story short, every dish was scrumptious and presented meticulously. This affordable dining experience made our day. We will come back for sure and highly recommend this restaurant to any Gourmand out there.
One important tip: make a reservation. We dropped in unexpected and got lucky. But after a quick chat with the hostess we found out that they are often fully booked during the weekends or when they are hosting a...
Read moreWe were pretty lucky to come here off-season, the restaurant was not crowded and it had a cosy feeling to it.
The food is made from regional products, and every dish shows it off. We loved how every plate had a great mixture of taste and texture. We tried the 5 course seasonal menu and it was even better than we expected!
We loved to try a different Slovenian cuisine, even if we did not know some of the food names when we went trough the menu list. Some of them were definitely a pleasant surprise!
I recommend this place, if you ever decide to explore the Pomurje region, take your time and stop here, your taste buds will...
