Came looking for a good country meal, left with a bottle of wine and met a kindred spirit! This was a weekend getaway after an intese work-week. I took windy country roads to relax the mind and enjoy spring scenery in a beautiful Slovenia. I made a beforehand reservation to get a table outside and their famous veal dish. Upon arriving I was greeted by Rok Vovko, the proprietor. His was the one serving me as well. After having an amazing soup from wild edibles I moved on the main course paired with excellent white from Isola region. Rok and I took to a conversation and discovered we know some people in common. A small world. The history of the restaurant and his passion and stories matched with a soul food made for a memorable experience worth doing all over again. On my way out I was gifted with a bottle of the same white wine I had with the lunch. I came hungry, I left with a full heart. Bravo Rok! We will meet again.

If you're looking for a restaurant with a story, look no further than this hidden gem. From the moment you step inside, you'll be transported to another time and place, thanks to the incredible attention to detail paid by the owners during the arrangement. Each old object has been lovingly restored and given new life, adding to the restaurant's unique charm and character. But it's not just the decor that sets this place apart. The food is equally impressive, with a focus on using local ingredients from surrounding producers. Every dish is bursting with flavor and beautifully presented, a testament to the owners' love, enthusiasm, and professionalism towards food and hosting. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this restaurant is not to be missed. You'll leave feeling satisfied, inspired, and eager to return and explore even more of the delicious and exciting flavors on offer. You won't be disappointed!

this is a review of the restaurant - with a limited but well crafted menu, the gostilna offers something for all tastes and preferences the starters of smoked trout tartare with trout caviar + the beef carpaccio were well balanced and quite delicious for the main, we had the krško pig t-bone steak (a first for us) + the buckwheat with lamb ragout & smoked ricotta -- both of these dishes were superb, nicely representing local cuisine and products piece de resistance was the pear poached in local cviček wine, served with vanilla cream and walnut pate - yum yum yum! service was polite, friendly and efficient one of those gems that is well known among locals and patrons, and should be visited when in the area

We only spent one night in this bed and breakfast on the way to Croatia, but is definitively well worth the money. Room was spacious and clean, it included a private tiled bathroom with a hairdryer and small satellite TV. Wifi was free and with good speed, I believe this is a plus for this kind of structures.||||People were really friendly, and multi-language (at least English, Italian and German adn, of course Slovenian). It is not so far away from Novo Mesto but is in the countryside and that makes it perfect for long week-ends. That was not our case and we could not see much because of the heavy rain on that day.||||Breakfast is really recommend with a lot of fresh local food (eggs, sausages, ham, etc). Great coffe and home made bread. There is no buffet but you are served at your table||||A big, big plus is for for the restaurant were we had dinner. Restaurant is very well known in the area and the family business started with it in 1977. Rooms we added only years late .The Inn's interior is furnished in a rustic and warm decore with a lot of wood. The food choice (mostly meat and river fish) was great, we went for mushroom soup and Deer, We drank a typical Terrano wine ( kraški teran), but you have to like this kind of Slovenian wine ( probably too sour for some people )||||Overall a nice experience, we hope to come back with more time, well worth the money.||You can probably reach it by train, but car is the way...
