We were nearby at Predjama castle and wanted a bite to eat. We stopped here and we were so glad we did. As we went in we were asked if we had reservations, which we did not. They took a moment but someone came back to tell us they would fit us in. They were obviously expecting quite a crowd as they had several large tables reserved (it looked like maybe a confirmation or something as people came in). They told us they were offering a couple of options that day (no menu) - this turned out to be an excellent thing for us. We were given options of beef or calamari (assuming due to the large crowd). We had beef soup first and then a large platter to share with a small side salad. Oh my word, the calamari was so tender and tasty. It seems a restaurant frequented by local families on Sundays and it was full but still they managed to accommodate us, so full points for hospitality! We asked for a beer and they served us a more expensive ipa bottled (our bad here, we did not specify "draught" so...nevermind, it was good and only like 2€ more) and when we checked the bill we noticed that they made us pay for an extra which sould have been included in the plate.
