We went to Gostišče Draga for a dinner for two. Considering all the constraints we imposed on them, they deserve all the praise I can give.
My date for the night is on a rather strict carnivore diet, meaning no starch, no vegetables, even cheese and nuts are a transgression.
The staff at Draga were willing to accomodate a number of tweaks on the dishes we ordered, and all the dishes came out exactly as ordered.
All dishes were tasty and made of quality ingredients, no supermarket shortcuts. The dishes came out well presented and portions were quite satisfactory, we sure didn't leave hungry.
One thing I noticed was that the waiter subtly inquired about the desired pace of the meal and adjusted it to our preferences. Since we had a pleasant dinner date, we took our time and it took us 2 hours to get through a 3 course meal.
One thing to note is, we were there on a scorching summer day in the middle of a heat wave. Draga is situated in a valley next to a creek and the temperature there is significantly lower than in the city. It was a very pleasant evening with good food, quality service in a pleasant environment. Highly...
Read moreOk..first thing is the staff. Friendly, helping, cool. Second thing is food. Chefs greetings from kitchen was homemade game pate. Lovely! We ordered garlic and mushroom soup. Creamy garlic soup with the right amount of flavour. Mushroom soup had perfectly sliced mushrooms in it and it was delicious (next time we will share one bowl, cuz portions are generous). Than we orderd fried frog legs. I had that for the first time and i was setisfied. They ware perfectly fried and that jogurt sauce..mmm! The main dish was for me game goulash with cheese strudel (i smeared that plate with bread). Girl had trout with all kinds of side dishes and it was banging! Salad had their own dressing - love it! 2 glasses of white wine, 1 bitterlemon, 1pepsi.. 68€ ..i also had a aperitif. We are so coming back.
Remeber people..if you are in kind to your waiter, your waiter will be...

The wild boar with plum sauce was the biggest letdown – the sauce was bitter and overcooked, and the meat was quite mediocre. Since there were seven of us, we tried several different dishes. A few were very good, but at these prices every plate should reach the same standard. There shouldn’t be room for excuses in a place like this.
In the end, the inconsistent quality of the food overshadowed the otherwise charming atmosphere. Sadly, it was not enough to make us...
