Gostilna Nimis Vanganel — Restaurant in Upravna enota Koper / Unità amministrativa Capodistria

We've been to Nimis for the first time in August '23 and I think it's going to be the first of many enjoyable meals. They have a huge menu; it is actually heavy too. The portions are veeeery generous. This is also reflected in the price, however, just know that you will get the worth of however much you pay for the plate. We were thinking about getting the Fiorentina steak. unfortunately it was out of stock, but at least we learned that the minimum order is about 750g. If you have a small stomach like mine be careful about not pushing yourself too hard to finish what's on the plate, you have to consider the desert. They also have more than a few desserts in the menu, but I guess the most famous and fancy one is the Nimis Palacinke which is a huge crepe (palacinke) filled with a fluffy cream. I actually didn't realize that there was cream in it from the photos on here, it was a nice surprise. And the whole thing is covered with red berry sauce, warm red berry sauce. Sharing one of these with 4 other people was the right choice after all the meat we had, but I must say you can also go there to have the palacinke in case of dessert emergencies. One of the best places around Koper and this part of Slovenia overall. Specialized more in grill but has a large variety for everyone. This is more a homemade offering, so you won't get a market store prosciutto for example, but a handpicked and hand cut top quality prosciutto. The meat is only top notch. And for a reasonable price as well. It is not one of those that charge you a fortune for this. And the place itself is entirely new, bright, very pleasurable and enjoiable. Not like some more darker places around Koper. The staff are a higher league as well. Very kind and attentive, but not getting cheesy... Only the drinks are a little on the high price, but you forget about those because you really leave the place happy and satisfied. You cannot miss with this one, so I give...

The food was delicious. I tried octopus salad (unbelievably delicious), a set of grilled meats (baked on a charcoal grill) and dessert (a pancake with a delicious sauce and fruit on top). The food has a balanced taste, the meats are great with a delicate hint of wood smoke, juicy but also baked. We also tried lamb, I think it's outside the normal menu – just heaven on the plate. The dessert was not too sweet, a slightly creamy pancake with forest fruits – delicious. I highly recommend it. Very nice service. Waitress Katarzyna, who speaks many languages, Slovenian, Bosnian, Croatian, English and Polish, deserves a 6+ rating on a five-point scale....
